まず登場するのは、オープニング・アクトだったオジー。なんと言っても聴きモノなのが、超・極初期ジェイク・Ｅ・リーのプレイ！　ジェイクのデビューギグは“1983年１月12日”ですから、そのわずか10日後。実に、７公演目のライヴなのです。USフェスティバル ‘83でも溌剌とした演奏を聴かせてくれましたが、その４ヶ月以上も前、加入したての新鮮ぴっちぴちの演奏が眩しい。当時25歳の新人だけに、さぞや緊張しているだろう……と思いきや、早くも堂々と弾き倒し！　人生初のメジャー活動に無我夢中であったことは想像に難くありませんが、それが勢いの良さにだけ転化され、ワイルドながらも後年以上にトリッキーなフレーズの連射を聴かせるのですから、流石はジェイクです。
そんなジェイクの演奏が真っ直ぐクリアに撃ち込まれるサウンドこそが驚異的！　ジェイク時代のオーディエンス録音でも、ここまでのクリアさはちょっと思いつかない。ネット音源では低音がモコモコしているきらいもありましたが、ジェイクの速射を存分に味わえるよう、高音の抜けをよくするリマスタリングを施しました。あくまでジェイクのためのリマスタリングでしたが、その結果バンド・アンサンブル自体もクリア化。ドン・コスタ、リンジー・ブリッジウォーターの演奏もクッキリと浮かび上がる仕上がりとなりました。この時代のオジー・バンドは細かいメンバーチェンジを繰り返しまくっていましたが、中でもこの２人はオジー史上でも激レアなラインナップ。それがド級のクリアサウンドで聴けるとは……。

さて後日、このツアーを振り返ってジェイクはこう言っていました。「あの時は、本当にワクワクしてたよ！　でも、スタッフに『誰のサポートをやるの？』と訊いたらWHITESNAKEだって言うんだ。そんなバンド聞いたこともなかったから、聞き間違いかと思った」。若き天才ギタリストにこんな事を言われてしまいましたが、本公演のメインアクトはやはりWHITESNAKE。本作でもディスク２・３の２枚に渡ってフルセットで収録。もちろん、「633騎兵隊＋1812年」を使ったコージー・パウエルのドラムソロも完全収録です！
当時のWHITESNAKEは、コージーやメル・ギャレイ、コリン・ホジキンソンを迎え、活動停止から復活したばかり。1982年12月から始まった“SAINTS & SINNERS TOUR”も１ヶ月ほどこなしたところ。２月には日本公演を控え、新バンドのほどよく暖まり、いよいよ本領を発揮しようというタイミングです。このツアーからはオフィシャル映像の「MONSTERS OF ROCK 1983」、ドイツのテレビ放送「LIVE… IN THE WEST OF THE RHINE」、そして日本公演の「BUDOKAN 1983 MONITOR MIX」など、強力なサウンドボード／プロショットがひしめいていますが、本作もそれらに負けていない。芳醇でジューシーな旧来のWHITESNAKEサウンドに、新加入３人によるタフなビート感が加わったアンサンブルは最高にパワフル。デイヴィッド・カヴァデールは、全力で叫んでも決して絶叫にはならない時代。中低音の美声を存分に発揮して熱い咆哮を轟かせてくれます。このラインナップには、未だに過渡期の印象がつきまといがちですが、音に込められた“温度”は、歴代のいかなるライヴよりも熱い。まったく、このメンツのライヴには外れはないのか!?と驚かされます。
その“温度”をしっかりと伝えてくれるのが、本作のサウンド。バツグンのクリアさはディスク１のオジー編と変わらず、観客の熱気はそれ以上です。ジェイクではありませんが、最初は「なんでオジーが前座なんだろう？」とも思いましたが、現場の観客は間違いなくWHITESNAKEをこそ愛しているのがハッキリと分かるのです。それだけの熱気でありながら、歓声も決して楽音の邪魔にはならない。現場にいるスイスの観客は、演奏中にはじっと耳を傾ける“日本タイプ”なのか、パワフルなアンサンブルが真っ直ぐ耳に飛び込んでくるのです。
ネットのマスターには「Ready An’ Willing」の後半でテープチェンジによる大きなカットがあったのですが、本作では“1982年12月12日ニューキャッスル公演”の「BITES BACK IN THE U.K.」で補完しました。このニューキャッスル公演は、長年にわたってツアー初期を代表し続けている名音源なのですが、その補完パートでは、この名録音よりも本編サウンドの方がダイレクト感があることがハッキリと分かる。長年、大定番の座を守り続けてきた名録音も、ついに王座交代となったようです。
