ヘヴィメタル／ハードロックのファンならば、誰もがその名に聞き覚えがある”モンスターズ・オブ・ロック”フェスティバル。RAINBOWをヘッドライナーに迎えた1980年を発祥とし、AC/DCやOZZY OSBOURNEなど、その当時を代表するバンドがヘッドライナーを務め、それぞれのキャリアを代表する名演を残してきました（イギリスでの開催時には、WHITESNAKEはIRON MAIDENらと並び、ヘッドライナーの大任を複数回に渡り果たしてきました）。伝統となったその”モンスターズ・オブ・ロック”名義は、’90年代以降主に南米で受け継がれ、アルゼンチンやチリで開催されてきました。2008年には４月にチリで、７月にはスペインで実施されるなど、フェスティバルが多様化した現在においても、海外のロック・シーンで重要な位置づけにあります。
そして2013年10月、ブラジル・サンパウロで５年ぶりに伝統のフェスティバルが復活しました。２日間開催となった今回は、初日の10月19日にSLIPKNOTやKORN，さらにLIMP BIZKITが出演したほか、20日はAEROSMITHをヘッドライナーとして、RATTやDOKKENらが出演しました。
本作ではその２日目に当たる10月20日のステージで、セミ・ヘッドライナー出演を果たしたWHITESNAKEのライヴを、放送用マスターを用いた公式級マルチカメラ・プロショットで収録！　ライヴの後半部分５トラック・約30分と時間的には短いのですが、そのクオリティたるや驚愕モノ！　今年４月にリリースされた公式映像作品「MADE IN JAPAN」では観られなかった楽曲も含み、確かな見応えと満足感で、2013年WHITESNAKEライヴのクライマックスを堪能させます！

当日のライヴは５月の来日公演同様に「Give Me All Your Love」そして「Ready An’ Willing」でのスタートでした。残念ながら現地テレビではそれらのライヴ前半から中盤までが使用されず、本マスターでは「Bad Boys」からの収録となっています。
ディスクを再生した直後から、画面のクリアネスと完璧なサウンドには誰もが圧倒されるはず！　ダグ・アルドリッチやレブ・ビーチの手元が大写しになるかと思えば、数万規模の大観衆がひしめき合う会場を俯瞰するロングの構図など、画面構成も素晴らしいの一言。カヴァデールのパフォーマンスも好調で、気合に満ちたアクションがファンを熱狂させる様子も、スペクタクル満点に収められています。
続く「Here I Go Again」では一転してムーディな雰囲気が会場を満たす。無数のオーディエンスが挙げる腕が波のように揺れ動き、カヴァデールの歌に唱和する場面は圧巻です（これこそカヴァデールが言う”ホワイトスネイク・クワイア”でしょう）！　バンドの演奏も、イントロでレブ・ビーチ（左チャンネル）の指が弦上をすべる音まで捉えられていて、さながら現場で聴くようなリアルさです。
張り詰めた緊張感が堪らない「Still Of The Night」は大きな見所。’87年当時からこの曲をプレイしているトミー・アルドリッジのドラムは、以前のメンバーとも異なるオリジナルな自然さでこの曲にフィット。ダグとレブのギターとともに、絶頂へ向けて場面を構築し、フレーズを積み重ねていきます。それらが一時に爆発し、エンディングへと雪崩落ちていくラストは、何度観ても最高です。
そしてアンコールは、カヴァデールが情感たっぷりに独唱する「Soldier Of Fortune」から、大興奮の「Burn」へと畳み掛ける！　この「Burn」では2004年以降おなじみとなった「Stormbringer」をインクルードする形式で、ライヴはピークの盛り上がりに包まれたまま、エンディングへと一直線にひた走ります！
確かに収録時間が短いのは残念なのですが、その反面、非常に焦点が絞れた内容でもあるのは、むしろ”長所”とも言うべきポイント。今のWHITESNAKEを決定付けた代表作「SERPENS ALBUS」からの３曲に、カヴァデールが世に出たDEEP PURPLEからの２曲（厳密には３曲）を、どちらも現在進行形のバンド・サウンドで再現する･･････まさにフェスティバル向けの、誰もが文句なしに熱狂できる曲目ではありませんか。WHITESNAKEの2013年を代表するライヴを、決定的なクオリティで刻み込んだこの映像は、プレスDVDで残さねばなりません！（「Soldier Of Fortune」の45秒目、「Burn」の6分45秒目で元の放送時の段階で生じたブロック・ノイズがあります。予め、ご了承下さい。）
