In 1978, the first Japan tour after the release of the first album had a total of 9 performances, and the Tokyo performance was a total of 4 performances, 2 times at Shinjuku Welfare Pension and 2 times at Nakano Sunplaza at the beginning of the tour. This edition is the first two days of the Tokyo performance, the Shinjuku welfare pension performance on June 17th and 18th, and the live performance on June 22nd, the second day of Nakano Sunplaza, each with the highest level of high-quality audience recording. All songs are recorded. All three performances are sound sources that appeared with the touch of digital recording from master tape, and each is recorded with the highest sound quality ever, surpassing all existing ones. The sound of each performance is hard to beat, but some may say that the 22nd, which was recorded with a sound like a line recording, is the best (the sound quality itself is just picking up the echo feeling on the 19th. Is very clear.). In any case, it is a feat to have three performances with such quality, and it is an overwhelming set that it is not an exaggeration to say that it is a must-have for all bootleg collectors as well as Van Halen fans. .. The pitch of the master that appeared this time was correct only on the 19th, and the pitch was slightly higher on the first day, which is about 1 minute longer than the original sound. The 22nd sound source has the highest pitch, and as a result of adjustment, it is about 2 minutes and 30 seconds longer overall. The songs played are almost the same, but Last Night is played on the 7th song only on the first day, and Down In Flames is played instead on the remaining 2 days. The sound balance is the best in all three performances, and all of them are very high quality recordings for this era, and I am grateful to Taper for recording all three performances with such a perfect sound image while listening to the new band’s Japan tour. It is a gem that makes you feel good. Not only the freshness of the sound but also the sense of separation is the highest level, and it is so excellent that you can hear all the bass notes of Michael Anthony in all three performances as well as Eddie’s guitar. The definitive Tokyo performance is now available from the legendary Van Halen’s first tour to Japan.

A 3-CD-R containing the sound sources of 3 performances in Tokyo from Van Halen’s first performance in Japan in June 1978. I was able to come to Japan six months after my debut because of the background that the originally planned first visit to Japan for Hall & Oates was canceled, but I was able to see Eddie’s guitar play in a small venue. I think I was lucky for the fans. The Tokyo performances were held on the 17th, 19th, 21st and 22nd, followed by Nagoya and Osaka. Lives on the 17th, 19th, and 22nd are recorded on this board, and all songs are recorded by audience recording with good sound quality. The playing time of the band was about 70 minutes. On the 17th of the first day, both the guitar and the bass were recorded very clearly, and the sound quality is quite good. The guitar play is wonderful, and there are short bass solos and drum solos, so it can be said that the performance content is fulfilling as a band. “Last Night” is played only on this day, but this is the original song of “Hang’Em High” that will be recorded in “DIVER DOWN” in 1982. The new song Somebody Get Me A Doctor, D.O.A, Bottoms Up for the second album has already been performed at this time. The recording time of DISC1 is 66:36. The sound quality of DISC2 is inferior to that of the other two performances, and although the bass sounds clear, the overall sound quality is slightly muffled. Somebody Get Me A Doctor is recorded from the middle part probably because of the tape change. The intro of Little Dreamer is long, and for some reason it takes 3 minutes for the vocals to come in. The unreleased song “Down In Flames” played from this day has the atmosphere of “You’re No Good”. The recording time of DISC2 is 69:32. DISC3 is the same master as the existing board “ATOMIC PUNK”, the sound balance of this board is better, the clearness of the guitar sound is better than DISC1 and the bass sound is also powerful. is there. It is unavoidable that there is a place where the singing voice of a male customer near the recording microphone is annoying. Anyway, “Eruption” that can be heard with this sound quality is overwhelming, and it can be seen that Eddie’s technique is being watched stunned from the quietness of the audience. The song order at the end of the song changed and “You Really Got Me” was played in an encore. The recording time of DISC3 is 72:37.

Somebody Get Me A Doctor, D.O.A, Bottoms Upもこの時既に演奏されている。 Somebody Get Me A Doctorが途中部分から収録されている。 この日から演奏された未発表曲「Down In Flames」は、「You’re No Good」の雰囲気を持つ曲だ。
