VAN HALEN will become biased towards North America as more tours are repeated, but Europe and Japan are still traveling in this era. It was a literal “world tour”. In such a situation, the Tucson performance of this work is “North America # 3” which returned to home after visiting all over the world. It was a concert of 9 concerts which will be the final tour of the tour.
This work which contained such a show is the finest sound board which appeared in recent years. This week, the shock sound board “WICHITA 1978 (Zodiac 303)” immediately after debut is released at the same time, but this work was also unearthed by the same route. Because of that, the quality is similar, and a direct desk feeling different from a well-prepared broadcasting sound source is terrible. The Tucson Convention Center, which became a worksite, is a hall / class accommodating 2,300 people, but I can not understand its breadth. The great cheer is felt far and distant, and the performance sounds and vocals of the four people are poured directly into the ear. It is a feeling of close contact and a sense of synchronicity of a class that is not understood even if it is said to be a narrow club or rehearsal studio.

Even though the direct sound was a transcendence, direct sounds were also somewhat flattened by all the instruments. In this work, we organize that sound for each range. 1 It finished to make one sound of the instrument feel stereoscopically. If you compare this with a painting, this work is an oil painting, while the original sound is a flat watercolor painting. Even the unevenness of the paint is real, and the feeling of existence and sense of responsibility live in the shadows born from it. Although it is high-quality sound, it is overwhelming that “VAN HALEN is there” more than that. Of course, all of these are the taste that the sound board sound source originally had, and it is not made as a result of relief. It pull out vividly the beauty point which was hard to feel with the original sound.
The show drawn with that sound is also the best. What is more pleasant than anything is its length. Recently, our debut · tour sound board is very popular, but these are one CD on the undercard performance. On the contrary, this work is a full-scale show that is over 95 minutes long. Of course, there is no point in thinning it, but in 1979 VAN HALEN is not worried about that. 2 The set selected almost half from the Daimyo board “Flame Firing Line” “Legendary Bomber” is rich and rich in variety. A number of historic steel plate songs were performed, and famous songs that emanate the initial mood even at the first stage VAN HALEN are delicious, such as “Atomic Punk”, “Light Up The Sky” and “Outta Love Again”. More than that, “1979” is the smell of tapping “You’re No Good” and “Outta Love Again”! “Outta Love Again” plays several times in 2012, but basically two songs are repertoire of only this tour. You can taste it on the barefoot best sound board of the official bare feet.
It is a set that has become rich only with variety without blurting from the main road, but VAN HALEN who plays it is also amazing. Overwhelming concentrations do not go on debut tours, but the performance is surely scaled up. If the beat is also a plush rally, David Lee Roth’s singing mouth is terribly open and the phrases of Eddie are full of openness. そんな本作に収められているのは「1979年10月２日ツーソン公演」。『伝説の爆撃機』に伴う“WORLD VACATION TOUR 1979”の一幕です。本作最大のポイントは凄まじいクオリティにあるのですが、何はさておきショウのポジション。まずは、ワールドツアー全体像の中からイメージしてみましょう。

《12月『暗黒の掟』制作開始》

VAN HALENはツアーを重ねるほどに北米偏重になっていくのですが、この時代はまだまだヨーロッパや日本も巡業。文字通りの“ワールドツアー”でした。そんな中で、本作のツーソン公演は、世界中を巡った後に本国へ帰ってきた「北米#3」。ツアー最終盤となる９公演目のコンサートでした。
そんなショウを収めた本作は、近年になって登場した極上サウンドボード。今週はデビュー直後の衝撃サウンドボード『WICHITA 1978（Zodiac 303）』も同時リリースとなりますが、本作も同じルートで発掘されたもの。そのせいかクオリティも似ており、綺麗に整備された放送音源とは違う卓直結感が凄まじい。現場となったツーソン・コンヴェンション・センターは2,300人収容のホール・クラスなのですが、その広さがまるで分からない。大歓声は遠く遠くに感じられ、４人の演奏音やヴォーカルが直接耳に流し込まれる。それこそ狭いクラブやリハーサル・スタジオと言われても分からないド級の密着感・シンクロ感なのです。
そんな激烈サウンドボードだけに全世界のマニアが色めき立っているわけですが、本作はさらに細心マスタリング。原音はダイレクト感こそ超絶ではあっても、全楽器がやや平板的でもありました。本作では、そのサウンドを各音域毎に整理。１楽器の１音ずつが立体的に感じられるように仕上げました。これを絵画に喩えるなら原音が平らな水彩画なのに対し、本作は油絵。絵の具の凹凸までもがリアルで、そこから生まれる陰影にまで存在感・手応え感が宿る感じ。オーディオ的に言っても高音質になっていますが、それ以上に“VAN HALENがそこにいる”感が圧倒的です。もちろん、これらはすべてサウンドボード音源が元々持っていた旨みであり、むりやり作ったものではありません。原音では感じにくかった美点を鮮やかに引き出したのです。
そのサウンドで描かれるショウがまた最高。何よりも嬉しいのが長さ。最近、当店ではデビュー・ツアーのサウンドボードが大人気となっておりますが、それらは前座公演でCD１枚物。それに対し、本作は堂々95分を超えるフルスケールのショウなのです。もちろん、それで薄まってしまっては意味がないところですが、1979年のVAN HALENにその心配はない。２大名盤『炎の導火線』『伝説の爆撃機』からほぼ半々にセレクトされたセットは濃厚な上にバラエティまで豊かになっている。歴史的な鉄板曲の数々が披露され、「Atomic Punk」や「Light Up The Sky」「Outta Love Again」など、第１期VAN HALENでも初期のムードを発散する名曲が美味しい。それ以上に“1979年”の薫りタップリなのが「You’re No Good」と「Outta Love Again」！　「Outta Love Again」は2012年にも何度か演奏していますが、基本的に２曲はこのツアーだけのレパートリー。それをオフィシャル裸足の極上サウンドボードで味わえるのです。
本道からブレずにバラエティだけ豊かになったセットですが、それを演じるVAN HALENも凄い。圧倒的な濃度はデビュー・ツアーには及びませんが、パフォーマンスは確実にスケール・アップ。ビートも豪放磊落ならデヴィッド・リー・ロスの歌い口は恐ろしく開けっぴろげですし、エディのフレーズもやたら開放感に満ちている。1978年に全世界を巡った経験が確実に活きており、堂々とした佇まいが早くもワールドクラスの大物感を醸し出している。先ほど「リハーサル・スタジオと言われても分からない」と書きましたが、それはあくまでもサウンドの話であり、演奏・歌声は確実に本番コンサートのダイナミズムであり、むしろ「アリーナやスタジアムのショウ」と言われても信じるほどに一大スペクタクルなのです。

苛烈な熱量ロックはそのままに、バラエティとスケール感が増した“WORLD VACATION TOUR 1979”。初期VHのショウを定義づけたツアー最終盤を脳みそにねじ込む極上のサウンドボード・アルバムです。１時間半以上のフルショウにドップリと浸かりきれる空前絶後の１本。どうぞ、刮目してご体験ください！
