なんとも、なんとも熱くて、小粋で、バカバカしいほど胸に迫る追悼ライヴがギフト・リリース決定です。本作の主役は、我らがTWISTED SISTER。追悼されるのは、2015年に亡くなったオリジナル・ドラマー、A.J.ペロです。彼が急逝したのは、2015年３月20日。サイドプロジェクトADRENALINE MOBのツアーバスの中で心臓発作を起こし、メンバー達が気づいたときには手遅れだったそうです。
A.J.ペロを失ったTWISTED SISTERの動きは早かった。翌４月には元DREAM THEATERのマイク・ポートノイを代役に迎え、2015年の追悼２公演と2016年の解散ツアー“FORTY AND F*CK IT”を発表したのです。実際には、2015年の追悼公演は２公演に終わらず、各国のフェスティバルに出演する10公演のミニツアーに発展。本作は、その６公演目にあたる「2015年６月28日カヴァルナ・ロック・フェスティバル公演（ブルガリア）」のオーディエンス・ショットなのです。
開演前から特別なムードたっぷり。お馴染み、AC/DCの「It’s A Long Way To The Top」が鳴り響くわけですが、光景はお馴染みではない。背景のスクリーンには、バンドロゴと共に「THE SOUND OF THUNDER」「A.J. PERO 1959-2015」の文字が掲げられ、彼に捧げられるショウであることが明示される。そして、開演するやメンバーが飛び出して猛烈な「What You Don’t Know」が炸裂するわけですが、それがなんとシルエットだけ。もちろん、ステージには照明装置が完備されているわけですが、スクリーンの前でライトも当たらずに影のまま演奏し始めるのです。
曲の途中で照明も付き、その後は通常通りのショウになるのですが、これがまた何ともクール。追悼を堂々デカデカと宣言しながらも、しみったれたムードは一切抜き。いつも通りにハイパーなヘヴィメタル／ロックンロールをぶちかまし、何も語らずに荒れ狂う。いや、いつもとちょっと違うとすれば、ディー・スナイダーが“あのメイク”をしていない。デッカく「FUCK IT.」と書かれたタンクトップを見せびらかしながらも、素顔のまま叫び吠えるのです。これこそ、TWISTED SISTER流。40年に渡る盟友を突如失い、何も感じないはずがない。悲しくないはずがない。しかも、この映像は急逝から３ヶ月しか経っていないのです。でも、それを微塵も見せずにハイパーなロックにすべてを込める。これほどTWISTED SISTERらしくて、A.J.らしい送り方があるでしょうか。
さらに「The Beast」の前ではディーもA.J.について語り、会場は「A.J.！　A.J.！」コールが巻き起こる。このシーンもせひご覧頂きたい。いつも通りのジョークや煽りを交えつつも、万雷のA.J.コールに胸を詰まらせるディー。そして「A.J.は友だちだった。兄弟だった。ヤツは雷鳴（The Sound Of Thunder）だったんだ」と叫ぶ。そんなディーを目の当たりにした観客たちもクール。ディーの煽りに「Twisted! Fuckin’!! Sister!!!」と叫び、ジョークに笑い、A.J.への敬意と想いを乗せて吠える。最高にカッコ良く、最高に楽しく、最高にロックしてきたA.J.を送るのに、涙なんかいらない。思いっきり楽しんで、全力でロックするのが最高の送り方……。いちいちカッコつけて言葉にはしないけれど、ディーも観客たちも分かってる。そんな交感が胸に熱いのです。
その後も熱狂のヘヴィメタルと胸に迫るシーンが何度も繰り返され、語り尽くせぬ想いが溢れる１本なのですが、１つだけどうしてもお伝えしておきたいのが「Burn in Hell」で炸裂するドラムソロ。曲がブレイクし、マイク・ポートノイのシンプルなビートを叩き出すのですが、それがいつの間にかスクリーンに大写しされたA.J.と入れ替わる。そのまま、シームレスにA.J.のドラムソロが炸裂するのです。そして、ソロの終わりにステージに戻ってきたディーは「On Drums, the Sound Of Thunder! A! J! Perooooo!!」と絶叫。その誇らしい顔ったらない。半生を共にロックしてきた盟友の名を叫ぶ、このディーの表情。これこそ、TWISTED SISTER。世界中のメタル野郎、ロック野郎の心を狂わせてきた本物バンドの魂なのです。

あまりに熱い映像故に、大事なことを書き忘れていました。本作のクオリティは極上です。ステージ中央やや右寄りの最前席からステージの隅々まで自在に押さえきった接写ショット。ディーのたなびくブロンドの１本１本から綺麗に割れた腹筋、激しい横隔膜の動きに至るまで超絶クリアに目撃できる大傑作映像です。しかし、そのクオリティを伝え忘れるほどに、本作のショウは胸に熱く、とんでもなくロックな超傑作なのです。
これが盟友を亡くし、解散を決意したバンドの熱演。何度もA.J.の名を叫びながら、最後の最後まで涙の１粒もありはしないハイパー・ロックンロール。長いロック史には無数の追悼コンサート、解散ツアーがありました。しかし、これほどまでにクールな送り方、観たことがありません。世間にどう思われるかなんか知ったこっちゃない。目の前のオーディエンスこそがすべて。そんな40年を駆け抜けたTWISTED SISTERだからこその、大いに笑い、叫び、荒れ狂う追悼コンサート。その全貌を本生100％でオーディエンス体験させてくれる１本。今週末、あなたのお手元へお届けいたします。
