なんと言っても、そのサウンドからして感動的。ＰＡ近くでダイレクトに拾ったであろうサウンドは完璧で、芯のある歌声楽音も素晴らしく、シンセの低音が床を振るわせているのも分かるほど。もし、あなたがアングラ音源を一切知らない方にプレゼントしたとしても、まったく違和感を持たないでしょう。

その広々とした空間に響き渡る優しい歌声がまた素晴らしい。芯のあるＰＡサウンドで発せられた彼女の声が空間に広がり、残響が１人ひとりへ届いていく……このバランスが絶妙なのです。そんな声がことさら感動的なのも、彼女の人柄が素直に感じられるからかも知れません。たった１回のライヴのために覚えたであろう日本語ＭＣを交え、英語ＭＣも一言一言を噛みしめるように話しかける。「分かる人だけ分かればいい」といった傲慢さがなく、「来てくれた全員に楽しんで欲しい」という気持ちが素直に伝わり、ハッピーで心温まる名曲たちが一層キラキラと輝くのです。
そんな華やかなポップソングも楽しいですが、素朴な彼女の魅力、そして録音の魅力が一層輝くのがカントリーシンガーの素顔がのぞく曲。「Red」や「Mean」、そしてショウの中盤で披露されるアコースティック・セットです。ここではメインステージからＢステージに移動し、楽音も少し遠目になる。音響的に聴けば欠点にもなりかねないはずのポイントなのですが、それがまたいいのです。ステージのリアルな立体感が醸し出され、エコー成分の増したサウンドでギター１本の弾き語りが遠くまで響き渡る。静かに、暖かく、しかし凛とした歌声。広がったエコーは日本人らしい控え目な合唱と混じり合い、ひとつに溶けていく……。ことさら劇的に煽るでもなく、胸が締めつけられるひとときです。会場でご覧になった方なら当日の光景が甦るでしょうが、行かなかった方でも、脳裏に映像が浮かぶことでしょう。
じっくりと感動がこみ上げる「Sparks Fly」で再びメインステージに移動しますが、そこでまた「目の前に彼女が戻ってきた！」という狂乱が巻き起こる。嬌声というのは時に癇に障りかねませんが、こちらも音楽と歌声にヤラれているからこそ、熱狂も感動を高める演出にさえなってしまうのです。

後半はヒット曲で大いに盛り上がってショウは幕を閉じますが、さらにボーナストラックとして「iHeartRadio Music Festival」の放送音源も収録しました。こちらもファンの方にぜひ聴いて頂きたい絶品サウンドボードなのですが、むしろ実際に聴いて驚くのは、最新の放送音源と並べても半歩も譲らない本編オーディエンス録音の高音質ぶり。しかも、なぜか本編の方が遙かに心が動かされるのです。
なぜ、私たちは“オーディエンス録音”などという奇異な文化に取り憑かれてしまったのでしょうか。オフィシャルでは足りないから？　サウンドボードがないから仕方なく？　それともコンサートの思い出？　確かにそれもあるでしょう。しかし、本当に私たちの心を捕らえて離さないのは、現場の客席でしか捉えられない感動があるからです。素っ気ない「臨場感」の３文字で済ませてしまうには勿体ないほど、あまりに芳醇で美しい音楽情景。たとえ実際にショウを見ていなくても心動かされる“音の景色”です。それが最上の形で記録され、暖かい曲や歌声と相まって結晶になったのが本作なのです。
普段メタルばかり聴いているスタッフに、ムリヤリ本作を聴かせました。最初は「テイラー・スウィフトぉ？」と露骨にイヤな顔をしていましたが、いつしかヘッドフォンに手を当ててまんじりともせずに聴き入っていた。これを機に彼女のファンになるほど出来すぎた話ではありませんが、それくらい本作は“流行りのポップスターの最新音源”を超えた魅力が詰まっているのです。
