「Genesis Revisited / Extended Tour 2014」と銘打ち、10月12日のイプスウィッチを皮切りに、12公演が組まれた最新UKツアー。そのツアー9公演目にあたる、11月1日のロンドンはハマースミス・アポロ公演を、それぞれ極上の超高音質オーディエンス録音で完全収録した2ソースを収めた4枚組がAmityレーベルより登場です。ディスク１＆２はネットを介して登場したテイク、ディスク３＆４にはロンドンを中心に数多くの良質なマスターを提供してくれるお馴染みテーパー氏からのオリジナルマスターテイクをそれぞれ収録。甲乙つけがたい程の最高音質で、2014年秋版の「Genesis Revisited」ロンドンショウを再現してくれます。音がクリアーで近いのは明らかにネット音源ですが、ロンドン・テーパー氏の録音はこれだけ単独で聴けば、これ以上の音は想像できない程の高品質なサウンドで収録されており、正直なところ、どちらも必聴としか言えない程の素晴らしさです。ネット音源はおそらく最新デジタル機材での録音で今風のサウンド、対してロンドン・テーパー氏はヴィンテージ感溢れるDAT録音で、その質感は明らかに異なります。ぱっと聴いた感じではネット音源のほうが明るく粒立ちが良く聴こえるのですが、耳に優しい、自然なスケール感に満ちたロンドン・テーパーのサウンドはネット音源にない独自の音の魅力を感じさせてくれます。このへんは好みによって評価が分かれると思いますが、ここまで高度な録音２種をまとめて聴けることは、ファンにとっては大変嬉しいことでしょう。マニアックな企画と思われるかもしませんが、この２種のテイストの異なる素晴らしい録音を聴けば、今回のリリースの意義・意味は容易にお判りになられると思います。ハケットもMCで「The museum is open for a little longer」「The dream once more」等と洒落たセリフを語ってますが、こんな素晴らしいライヴなら、何回でも観てみたいと思うのがファンの本音ではないでしょうか。ベースがリー・ポームロイからニック・ベッグスに代わっていますが、それ以外のメンバーは前回と同じで、各所で充実のアンサンブル・プレイを聴かせてくれます。選曲も昨年のツアーとほぼ同じですが、今回は、前半ではSquonk、後半ではLilywhite Lileth、The Knifeと言った人気曲をセットに組み込み、ファンを喜ばせてくれています。昨年同時期に行われたロンドン公演も披露されたFountain Of Salmacisも演奏されています。Firth Of Fifthではゲストでジャッコ・ジャクジグとジョン・ハケットが登場します。収録合計時間4時間44分の超大作4枚組。
