その後「THE BRONX」（Darker Than Blue）のボーナス・タイトルとして、同音源のリール・マスター・バージョンである「SAN BERNARDINO 1972 Master Reel Version」もリリースされましたが、プレス盤で入手したいというファンの皆さんの声を受け、今回特別に再プレス盤の入荷が実現しました！

サウンドチェックを兼ねたオープニング・イントロの2分間から、本作は素晴らしいサウンドを楽しめます（ボーナス・タイトル”Master Reel Version”で気になったヒスノイズも、このプレス盤では軽減されています）。’72年としては珍しい「Speed King」でのオープニング（この頃バンドはヨーロッパですでに「Highway Star」を演奏。「Speed King」のオープニングはこの時期が最後で、これも本作のポイントです）から、バンドの演奏は壮絶の一言！　鮮度抜群のサウンドがとにかく圧倒的な上に、さらに当時としては異例なほどに優れた安定感と、ライン録音級の分離感は驚異的と言うほかありません！　リッチーのギターとジョンのキーボードはもちろん、ロジャーのベースが本当に一音単位で聴き分けられる音には、いかなるPURPLEマニアも息を飲む事でしょう（よほど志向性の高い高感度マイクで録音されたと思われます）。若きギランの超人的スクリーム、ペイスが繰り出す嵐のようなドラミングも、ライヴ序盤からいきなり絶好調です。
続く「Strange Kind Of Woman」では、ややオフ気味だったヴォーカルもしっかり聴こえるようになり、ほとんど完璧と言えるサウンド・バランスを実現。いわゆる”発掘物のオフィシャル盤”レベルのサウンドになっています。リッチーのソロはもちろん、後半で飛び出すヴォーカルとギターの掛け合いも、まるでライン音源のようなリアルさで楽しめます（なお、この「Strange Kind Of Woman」は2:52でマスターに起因するカットが入ります）。
リッチーのギターソロにジョンのオルガン・ソロが正面から取っ組み合う「Child In Time」は圧巻のクオリティ。前半のクリアなヴォーカル・パートに始まり、20分を越えるスリリングな演奏は、聴き手をライヴへと引っ張り込んでしまうでしょう。ギター→オルガン→ギターとソロを繋げつつ、一寸先にどんなプレイが繰り出されるかまったく予断を許さないインタープレイは、何度聴いても飽きる事が無いとすら思えます。
ドラムソロをフィーチャーした「The Mule」も、この素晴らしい録音のおかげで、40年前とは思えないベストなオーディエンス・サウンドを満喫できます。ライヴのクライマックス「Space Truckin’」も、バンドが渾然一体となって爆発するスリリングな演奏がリアルに蘇ります。ファンは感動すると同時に、第二期のエネルギッシュなプレイを前にして、思わず呆然となってしまうでしょう！
