1973年～1974年にかけてイギリスのスタジオで録音された「Selling England By The Pound」「The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway」製作過程のリハーサル音源を収録。近年、ネットを通して発表された、話題の高音質テイクの全てを収録。ディスク１には73年夏のロンドン・リハーサル・テイクを編集し、実際のアルバム曲順通りに並べ変えたテイク集を収録。ボーカルも仮歌だったり、パートによっては入っていなかったり、バンドアレンジもまだまだ完成には遠い状態ですが、あの名盤を構成する楽曲の初期ヴァージョンを楽しむにはうってつけと言える貴重なテイクの数々が収録されています。「Selling England By The Pound」のデモテイクは過去に「In The Beginning」シリーズなどでコレクターにはお馴染みですが、本盤に収録されているテイクは音質的にも優れており、聴きどころも満載で、名盤のプロトタイプとして非常に興味深く聴くことができます。なお、ボーナストラックの扱いでラストにI Know What I Likeのロング・イントロ・ヴァージョンが収められています。ディスク2には、「The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway」製作時におけるジャム・テイク集を収録。編集者により「The Jams Played Down At Headley」と名付けられた約79分の貴重な10テイク。「The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway」セッションとしてはかなり初期の録音でメンバーが持ち寄ったリフやテーマに沿ってバンドが延々と即興演奏を繰り広げる様子が聴けます。編集者によって仮タイトルが付けられていますが、あの名曲の骨格となるリズムやメロディ・ソロが次々と展開していくパートの連続に、ファンは誰しもが驚きの思いで聴き入ってしまうことでしょう。ディスク３には「The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway」を初期ヴァージョンをアルバム収録曲順に収録。この時代のリハーサル・テイクは過去より数多くのものがリリースされていますが、本作はクオリティの高さ、構成の判りやすさ、楽しみやすさと言った点において、過去のタイトルを凌駕する大変優れた内容になっています。本来ならプレスCDでのリリースが相応しい充実の3枚組、これはお薦めです。

驚くべき音源の登場である。GENESISのスタジオアウトテイクとしては有名な音源と思いきや。Disc 2以降の『THE LAMB LIES DOWN ON BROADWAY』の音源は『IN THE BIGINING』シリーズや『THE DEMOMIX DOWN ON BROADWAY』には登場しなかったテイクを集めたものである。STEREO SOUNDBOARD RECORDINGと明記されているが、中にはスタジオ内での録音 であろう（特にDisc 1）ものも多く含まれている。Disc 1の音源は1973年に発売されている『SELLING ENGLAND BY THE POUND』のSESSIONテイクで、曲のマテリアルを試行錯誤 しながら、作り上げていく工程が楽しめる。まだ歌詞などはできていないものの、曲の完成にあわせ、セッッションパーツをトラックごとにまとめている編集が面白い。後に初のヒットとなるDisc 1「I Know What I Lile (In Your Wardrobe)」でSteve Hackettによって弾かれるシタールギターを、Mike Rutherfordが弾くDisc 1「No Fool」などかなりリラックスしたセッションもも聴くことができる。ボーナストラックとして収められているのは、やたら長い耕運機サウンドの後に、オフィシャル音源を繋いだものを収録。Disc 2とDisc 3は繋 がっては、いない。ここでの音源は今までのアウトテイクスだとスタジオセッション、仮歌を入れたデモ、ミックス違いという3種類あった。Disc 2には、スタジオ内におけるジャムセッションを収録（タイトルがそれっぽいのは、そのセッション内で使われたでろうメロディや、フレーズなど）を収録。よく聴くと同じセッション内でも、このベースラインはあの曲、このフレーズはあの曲と、たくさんの発見が出来る。Disc 2の「Deja Vu」はSteve HackettがGENESISのカヴァーアルバム『GENESIS REVISITED』の中で取り上げた曲と同名である。聴き比べたのだが、確かにコード進行は似ているようなものの、Phil Collins のバタバタドラムと弾きまくるTony Banksによってまったく別印象。確信はもてない。また仮タイトル(Working Title?)も配置箇所などによって、聴く者のイマジネーションを膨らます仕掛けにもなっていて、楽しい。今回のアウトテイクには、DEMOとなる演奏はほとんどなく、セッションが中心。同じフレーズを延々と繰り返すなかで、少しずつメンバーがアレンジを重ねて行く。やはりこの時代のメンバーが非凡ではない。Peter Gabrielのヴォーカルには、メロディはあるもののまったくといってイイほど、歌詞はない。4人のミュージシャン1人ノストーリーテラーがロックオペラの大作を仕上げる手前の手前。Disc 3の「The Chamber Of 32 Doors」はメドレーだったんだ？という発見までも楽しい。どのディスクもアルバムの曲順を意識して編集されているので、アルバムを何度も聴いたファン以外にも楽しめる内容になっいる。それぞれのDiscにタイトル付き。
