大好評をいただきました「Stones In The Dome」に続き、再び2007年ライブの名作「Paris Was Hot」がプレスCDに昇格してリリースとなります。今回も「Stones In The Dome」の録音者による伝説的な高音質のオーディエンス録音を使用した名作CD-Rだった訳ですが、何と言ってもオープニングのSEが鳴っただけで「迫力満点」を実感出来ることでしょう。しかもこちらの録音、その迫力はもちろんですが、そのオープニングやショウ終盤で鳴るSEが左右に駆け抜けるステレオ感まで捉えられているから驚きです。こういった立体的な音像が聴かれる場面はかの「Stones In The Dome」とはまた違った迫力を感じられるはず。2007年にこの録音者が残している音源は本当に素晴らしい音質ばかりですので、ようやく実現したプレスCDでの間違いなく納得していただけることかと思います。

 今回のプレスCD化に当たっては輪郭のある音へイコライズし直したことで、2007年当時に感じられたであろう「距離感のある音像」が格段に「オンな音像」へと生まれ変わることに成功しました。間違いなく、2007年盤CD-Rをお持ちの方には一聴して解る音質や音像のアップグレードを実感していただける仕上がりとなっています。もちろん「イコライズ」といっても、そういった補正が時として生み出してしまう「不自然さ」は皆無であり、いわゆるイコライズ感に構えることなく、あくまで自然な仕上がりの音の中で今回のアップグレードを楽しんでいただけるはずです。
 さらにこの音源は「Stones In The Dome」の録音と違い、録音者の位置が落ち着かなかったのか、たまに音像が微妙に変わる点も気になったのですが、これも今回のリリースに当たって出来る限りの補正を施して俄然安定感のある音像へと生まれ変わらせています。この点も今回の大きなアップグレード・ポイント(B-stageはさすがに違和感が拭えませんが)だといえるでしょう。
 そしてこの日の演奏が非常に面白い点は是非今回のリリースで再確認していただきたいポイントです。実質的にツアー開始三年目ということで2007年はどの日も水準の高い演奏が聴かれましたが、この日もWaiting On A Friendまではいかにも2007年と言うべき鉄壁のような演奏が矢継ぎ早に披露されます。ところがCan’t You Hear Me Knockingではキースが突如もたついたイントロを弾き始め、演奏自体もそのままダラダラと展開されてしまいます(終盤ロニーのソロで持ち直しますが)。かと思えばTumbling Diceではキースが反対に前のめり気味にイントロを弾き始め、バンドがそれに付いて行けなくなりそうな混乱もあります。それどころかキースは自身が歌う二曲においてももたつき気味にバンドをひっぱるのですが、MCはいつものようなゴキゲンな調子が感じられます(単にだるかったのでしょうか?)。このようなキース全開な場面があるにもかかわらず、グループ全体の演奏は2007年らしいブレのない素晴らしいものなのです。よくある「キースを中心として演奏が崩れる」ステージとは確実に違う不思議な名演をこのアップグレードした音質と共に是非お楽しみください。遂に実現したプレスCDでのリリースをお見逃しなく!
