何しろ今回の音質は凄い。その別格なクオリティの高さといったら、昨年の「ZIP CODE」ツアーにおけるシトラス・ボウルやインディアナ・ポリスに匹敵するハイレベルなもの。極度にオンでサウンドボード・クラスな音像の近さはもちろん、ぶっといベースラインを始めとした音の厚みには言葉を失ってしまう…。
元々ストーンズ2016年ツアーは最初が南米という土地柄だったこともあり、先に挙げた昨年のツアーのような別格のオーディエンス録音に到達する音源が登場しなかったものです。しかし「DESERT TRIP」フェスティバルはアメリカ本土で行われただけのことはあり、先週からレベルの高い音質が登場した訳です。そんな中でさらなる高みとして現れてくれたのが今回の音源。あまりにもずば抜けた高音質には、これが2016年ツアーにおけるベスト・オーディエンス・レコーディングの最有力候補であると確信させてくれるほど、とにかくすごい音質。

これほどのクオリティで聴かれるだけに、二週目のストーンズ・ショーのドキュメント感たっぷりなステージングが手に取るように楽しめてしまうのです。一週目のストーンズはオープニングから飛ばしまくっている勢いがありましたが、二週目はちょっとスロー・スタート。キースによるフレットの位置を間違えたイントロ炸裂の「It’s Only Rock ‘n’ Roll」など、まさか「Let It Rock」が始まるのか？と錯覚しそうになってしまうほど。違うキーで始められただけに、ミックは歌い出しを四苦八苦していますが、当日のYouTube動画を見るとダリル・ジョーンズの頼もしいベースの音からキーを直しているように映っています。さらに「Tumbling Dice」でもキースのミスが散見されました。
