当時の関係者が保管していたスタジオ・リールからのダイレクト・トランスファーによる、
オフィシャルCDをも凌駕する驚愕のサウンド・クオリティー！リールに添付されていた
スタジオCUE SHEETと照らし合わせながら、リール何巻にも及ぶ膨大なMIX音源の中から
コア部分を吟味セレクトし、1CDサイズに凝縮した聴き応え満点の作品！

M.01～M.06は、1973年夏にいったんハリウッドで完成されたMIXを収録。
最終形となったオフィシャル・アルバムとは、歌詞や編集が異なっていたりと、
別バージョンといえる内容となっています。例えば「 I AM THE GREATEST」では
ビリー・プレストンのキーボードが大きくMIXされていたり、中盤からエンディングにかけて
歌詞や歓声のオーバーダブが大きく異なっていたりしています。また「HOLD ON」では
マーク・ボランのセカンド・ギターがダブされていたり、「SIX O’CLOCK」では
最終版ではバッサリ無くなってしまったエンディングのインサート部分もキッチリ入っていたりと、
ここには書ききれませんが、聴いて頂ければ様々な違いを発見できるはずです。

M.07～M.27は、スタジオでのMIXING WORKSをフィーチャー。コンピューターの無い時代、
MIX作業はライブと同じく現場での一発勝負。サウンド・エンジニアがフェーダーを動かしながら
音のバランスを作り上げていく様子を膨大なMIXテイクからセレクトして収録しています。
すべてがアーリーMIXのため、オフィシャル・アルバムと同じ物は全くありません。
色々な仕掛けや違いがあるのですが、是非とも聴いて味わって頂けたら幸いです。
特に「SIX O’CLOCK」のインサート部分をたたみかけるように何テイクもかけて
連続で仕上げていくスリリングな展開や、「HOLD ON」の間奏ギターソロ部分に
ホーンをダブしたテイクとホーンを入れないテイクを試したりしている部分などは、
大きな聴き所のひとつではないかと思います。

M.28～M.30は、これらもスタジオでのMIXING WORKSを収めたものですが、
今回関係者の倉庫からオルジナル・リールを発見するに至らなかったため、
発見された中にあったバックアップ・リールからの収録となっています。
M.01～M.27のようなオリジナル・リール落としと比べると音質はやや落ちますが、
カセット音源ではないので、アーリーMIXの素晴らしさを充分にご堪能頂けます。

1973年、リンゴ＆ビートルズのメンバー達がリールに刻んだ素晴らしい楽曲のアーリーMIX！
