2010年にリリースされ、世界中のレインボー・ファンを驚愕させた「LONG LIVE ROCK ‘N’ ROLL: ROUGH MIX」。その大元のリールテープの再生を、ハイエンドなリール・プレイヤーで、新たにトライした作品が本盤です。リリース直後からその圧巻の内容が世界中に衝撃を与え、近年では公式のデラックス・エディションにまで採用された「LONG LIVE ROCK ‘N’ ROLL: ROUGH MIX」。ただし、オリジナルの2010年版のリール再生は海外スタジオで行われたものであったため、オリジナルのそのくぐもった音の感触から、当初より私たちの中には「もっと高度なクイップメントとハイエンドなリールプレイヤーで再生すれば、より良い音が出力されるのではないか」という疑念がありました。それを実現したのが本作です。一曲目のLady Of The Lakeを聴けば一発で分かりますが、既発「LONG LIVE ROCK ‘N’ ROLL: ROUGH MIX」とは比較にならない程、澄み切ったクリアーなラフミックスサウンドがスピーカーいっぱいに飛び出します。その音質の差は圧倒的なものと言え、間違いなく世界中のレインボーファンを熱狂させる新ラフミックス・ヴァージョンの登場と断言できます。しかし・・・テープのコンディションは思いのほか悪く、35年以上を経過しての、経年劣化にテープは堪えられなかったようで、4曲目のKill The Kingのギターソロ途中で磁気テープの粉の剥離が発生してしまい、実質、この段階で再生不能となってしまいました。ですので、この4曲（正確にはKill The King途中までですので３テイク半）はこのリールテープの最後の再生記録なのです。まさに副題通りの「FINAL PLAY」と言うわけですが、嘘偽りなく、既発よりも、この４トラックの音質は優れています。「素晴らしいテイクだが、公式に比べ何となく地味な印象」を感じた「LONG LIVE ROCK ‘N’ ROLL: ROUGH MIX」でしたが、本盤の登場で、初めて最良のサウンドで（４トラックだけですが）楽しむこととが出来ます。先週のコージーの「1812」ではないですが、これはレインボーファンにとって非常に重要なトラックです。ボーナス・ディスクといって軽く見ることなかれ。圧巻かつ最重要な音の記録をお楽しみ下さい！世界最良の「LONG LIVE ROCK ‘N’ ROLL: ROUGH MIX」４テイク。「LONG LIVE ROCK ‘N’ ROLL REEL MASTER: FINAL PLAY」、遂に解禁です！
