ここではJOHANNA傘下のCROSS FIREレーベルから2004年にリリースされたＤＶＤ２タイトルからアリーナとスタンドはチケ完売の超満員、バックステージには関係者やＶＩＰがスズナリとなった大都市NEW YORKはマジソン・スクエア・ガーデンでの2日連続公演を4枚のＤＶＤに収録。

初日の2004年7月12日公演は、ワン・カメラながらNYの伝説の撮影チームによるシューティングで当時としては画期的高画質。そして２日目の7月13日公演は２カメラ・ミックスの労作で見応え充分。
約10年前、ＨＤ画質の無い時代の映像で、ビギナー向けではありませんが、殿下の貴重な2004年ステージを詳細に確認できるマニアにはたまらない映像ではないでしょうか。

このツアーではアリーナの中央に全方向型セットを設置して、全方向がステージ正面！
オランダ生まれの世界的アルト奏者キャンディ・ダルファーもツアーに参加し花を添えたホーンセクションもステージ狭しと動き回り、後にジェフ・ベックのバンドでも活躍する強烈女性ベーシストRhonda SmithがドラマーJohn Blackwellとリズムを支えます。

ソファsetなども配置されたステージでお茶目にポージングするプリンス。
回転式座椅子に腰掛けてのたっぷりと時間を割いて日替わり曲が披露されるアコースティック・ギターでの弾き語りソロsetも注目で、アコギそのまま名曲”7″にバンドが加わって展開する瞬間はゾクゾクします。
そして長いショウのラストを飾る感動的なPURPLE RAINまで見所満載。
