そのクオリティで描かれるプリンスは、「BATMAN」の大ヒットもあって東京ドームを超満員にする絶頂期。グレイテストヒッツ・ツアーの“NUDE TOUR”は、ヒット曲満載の豪華絢爛。その大スペクタクルなショウが画面いっぱいに広がるのです。冒頭から巨大な「P R I N C E」の文字がステージに現れ、青いギターを手にしたプリンスが登場。その白シャツに刻まれた日本語「ヌード」や黒パンツの「人間」も鮮明に映し出されます。プリンスはショウの間に何度も衣装替えしますが、「Kiss」での黒い衣装には「愛」が重ねられ、「Partyman」のオレンジのスーツにも「ふた子座」、アンコールの黒スーツにも「プリンス」「ヌード」と日本語描かれている。彼だけでなく、ロージー・ゲインズの衣装には「魂」、ミコ・ウェイバーには「ライブ」、ダンサーGAME BOYZには「猛男」。テレビ放送のプロショットに映る客席シーンはごくわずかですが、常に“日本感”満点の映像なのです。

……と、このような構成になっています。これが本作の収録順ですが、現場のステージは「Ｄ→Ｂ→Ａ→Ｃ→Ｅ→Ｆ」進行でした。現場の曲順に戻すことも検討されましたが、ここでは放送そのものの時代感覚を大切に、そのまま収録いたしました。放送の時代感覚と言えばもう１点、当時のCMもそっくり収録。本来ならカットするところなのですが、このCMから漂う“時代の匂い”が凄いのです。ダイヤモンドな女子バンドは登場しますし、車のCMでバックに流れるのは覚醒剤使用で逮捕された男性デュオの曲。「映像ワンダーランド」のキャッチコピーも懐かしければ、リゾート企業（後に倒産）のイメージCMもバブル末期ならでは。さらにバンドブーム深夜番組でブレイクした女性タレントが登場したかと思えば、危なっかしい刑事さんは電話ボックスで話してるわ、ビーバップ高校の中の人が高画質FAXを喧伝するわ、肩パッドの女性がゲットワイルドなシンセ奏者の妻だったりするわ……。派手な人生が永遠に続くと信じていた、あの時代の匂いがむせ返るほど濃厚に薫ってくるのです。
もちろん、“懐かCM”はオマケでしかありません。本編たるプリンスの輝きこそが本道であり、CM群は言わば、その輝きを時代の匂いで包む調味料。そう、プリンスは、“NUDE TOUR”は、こんな時代の真ん中で輝いていた。そのリアルな手触り感を演出してくれるのです。
