British Winter Tour “in 1974 boasts a high popularity in mania after the mega hit of the album” THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON “. It is a secret of popularity to call it the last time when Floyd’s unique creative process shines like playing new songs before recording on stage and repeating trial and error. The posture to show off new songs that have not been recorded yet on stage and the feelings of fans who were waiting for the release of a new album following “THE DARK SIDE ~”, as a result, the new songs played on this tour The bootleg recorded the terrible sales. The fact that such a phenomenon forced Floyd ‘s treatment of new songs to have been forgotten has been told, but that is why in the Floyd’ s live history, the British Winter Tour has a great brilliance.
From the era of CD-R items of AYANAMI label, our shop has actively released the sound source of the tour, but among them was Wenbury Empire Pool in the middle of November which was a highlight of tours (Wenbury after Arena) has continued to produce items that are unrivaled with respect to sound sources that captured continuous performances at the arena. I would like to organize the Wembley items that had been released from our store except on November 14 where the tone generators are not yet popular.
November 15
“YOU GOTTA BE CRAZY AT WEMBLEY” AYANAMI (CD-R) → “WHO GOTTA BE CRAZY” SIGMA → “WEMBLEY 1974 2ND NIGHT” SIGMA
November 16
“WEMBLEY 1974 – PRE FM MASTER” SIRENE (sound board) → “RAVING LUNATICS” SIRENE (sound board and audience) → “ABSOLUTELY YEARS” SIRENE (sound board + 15th sound source) → “BBC ARCHIVES” SIGMA (sound board)

And this time from the audience recording capturing the performance on November 17, the “Unprocessed Master” version is finally released! Unlike the 15th performance where old CD items existed in “BLACK HOLES IN THE SKY”, AYANAMI’s “AMAZING WEMBLEY” was released for the 17th performance as the 21st century was released for the first time. In the age of LP, the new song part of the first half of the show was released in various forms as if it was a pair with the radio broadcasting part of the 16th.
It was also copied from a label such as TKARL or CBM based on WIZARDO’s LP “THE SCREAMING ABDAB” which has been released as a gift CD-R several times by our shop and it was disseminated among maniacs. Following “BRITISH WINTER TOUR ’74” which contained new song parts from the show at Trentham Garden after Wembley, those LP items played the role of lowering the drinking of fans starved for new songs. As a result, “AMAZING WEMBLEY” became a long-awaited release literally, and it was highly valued though it was CD-R.
What was revealed by this “AMAZING WEMBLEY”, the fact that it was spreading the famous performance of Dantotsu among the three Wembley performances where sound sources exist. If you think about it, there will be trouble as if Gilmore’s effectors picked up the radio broadcast that music not related to Floyd flows in the intro of ‘Shine On You Crazy Diamond’ When I joined the performance, I was hit by a happening that Waters plays and tunes the bass while playing.
On the 16th, there was a recording presupposing radio broadcasting, and from the full length version heard in the audience recording of “RAVING LUNATICS”, the apparent hardness of the performance was felt. Floyd can not be conscious of the fact that the recording presupposed to be released was also done.

On that point, on 17th we will show off a really stretched performance as if released from the troubles and pressures listed up to this point. Besides that, from this day, the change of position in the new song part to move “Raving And Drooling” to the opening number also played a success, and the momentum of the song has increased much more than before. Even with this opening alone, the level which was different from the performance in Wembley until that time was already proved by the above-mentioned LP. However, as the CD era, all the performances were released and the details of each show became clear, it became clearer.
However, even with “You Gotta Be Crazy” it is also true that Gilmore failed to play repeated refrain at the point where the tempo of the song changed, and that a mistake that was not seen in Wembley was caught. This may have been a problem with the stage monitor. Anyway the song itself has already been played many times since the beginning of the winter tour.
The secret of the height of the evaluation of the performance on the 17th will be the further improvement of Gilmore singing in “THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON”. Originally in 1974, it is also a time when his throat began to show signs of full-fledged, but Wembley’s “THE DARK SIDE ~” part on Wednesday spreads out a prominent appearance on the sound board and radio broadcast It seems like it has been done. It might be that there was also “Guru Mori” of Gilmore who was conscious of recording. On the contrary, the point at which the 17th day clearly shows a wonderful singing is too high compared with 15th day.

And the superb quality of the audience recording contained in “AMAZING WEMBLEY” also played a major role in raising the evaluation on the 17th. Regarding the recording state, it is very similar to that of the 15th day, and there is no doubt that it was recorded by the same taper. Anyway, as a recording in 1974, the sound image is surprisingly on, for example, you can be stunned because you can clearly hear Mason’s baton of bus drawn by “Shine On You Crazy Diamond”. Regarding clearness, the taper of “RAVING LUNATICS” by another taper exceeds the 16th audience recording, but the recording state which is plentiful analog tic feeling plentiful recording feeling is appealing instead of the sound image which is different and the clearness anyhow.
As mentioned above, only a different recording boasting high quality both in performance and sound quality, the maniac’s desire for release by the press board from the time of release of “AMAZING WEMBLEY” was raised. Also, after the release of the same title, since the sound generator of First Generation appeared, the title of the press board finally realized in 2008 was “DECLINE AND FALL OF THE BRITISH EMPIRE”. Aside from having improved sound quality than “AMAZING WEMBLEY”, of course, since the pitch which was crazy with the same title was recorded in an accurate state, I was recording a long seller as a fixed version without title complaint on 17th It was.
However, the new first generation sound source provided this time from overseas heavyweight mania gave us a different surprise again. Whereas “DECLINE AND FALL ~” (hereinafter referred to as the “already-to-be-released”) was copied once from the master reel to the cassette, this time a copy once dropped from the master reel to the master reel It was. In addition to that, when the preexisting board was dropped onto the cassette, equalization was applied to reduce slightly amplified noise.
To my knowledge, the difference in information volume brought about by the media difference between cassette and reel is clear. From the moment you first played the opening, you will be able to realize the big difference between “DECLINE AND FALL ~” and the texture. Natural texture and abundant presence feel abruptly increased by recording the first generation copy via this reel in a literal “Unprocessed” state. Especially the new song part listens to the music that the audience witness for the first time watching it, so it is very easy to understand the difference from the already released disc.
For example, as for the early part of “Shine On You Crazy Diamond”, this time the hiss noise may be interesting in the part where the performance is quiet, but there is something that is “crushed” It will be noticed that there was such unnaturalness. Nevertheless, the height of freshness unique to the state of being copied to media with high information volume is also overwhelming. Just by releasing it with a limited press CD that our store has full, this upper feeling is exceptional. The unprocessed version which finally captures the charm of Wembley’s last day, a masterpiece that gained a solid reputation among maniacs all over the world, will be realized at last.

アルバム「THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON」のメガ・ヒット以降でマニアに高い人気を誇るのが1974年の「British Winter Tour」。
