フロイドの従来のツアーであれば世界各国で行なうのが慣例であったが、『THE WALL』ツアーに関してはセットが巨大かつ複雑、壮大なものであり、それら演出などの関係からコストを考慮し、わずか4都市全31公演と中規模なものとなった。その4都市とはロス、ニューヨークのアメリカ2都市、そして英国はロンドン、ヨーロッパはドイツのドルトムントである。本作は、ツアー前半のアメリカ公演より、1980年2月28日ニューヨークはユニオンデール公演を収録している。この日はロスから続くアメリカツアーの最終日でもある。

音質はオーディエンス音源ながらサウンドボードに肉薄する素晴らしいもので、現代でも不可能ではないかと思うくらい近距離における超高音質で完全収録している。音の広がりといい、レンジの広さといい、1980年とは思えぬ理想的なオーディエンス録音で収録されているため、このツアーを代表する音源のひとつとして有名なものである。美しいピクチャー・ディスク仕様の永久保存がっちりプレス盤。日本語帯付。
