2015年度のライブ活動は7月のロラパルーザでおしまいかと思われていたポールのアウト・ゼアー・ツアーですが、この10月に再びアメリカを回って完了となったようです。その初日である、10月13日のコロンバス公演を登場したばかりのオーディエンス録音から収録。最新ツアーの初日ということもあって既に聴かれたマニアの方も多いかと思われますが、これはなかなかに優秀な録音です。さすがに日本公演後のソウルのような、音像と臨場感の両方の迫力を兼ね備えた録音状態とまではゆかないものの、非常にオンな音像が素晴らしい！程よい会場のエコー感も心地よく、それでいて周囲の盛り上がりが耳を突くような臨場感もなく、これぞ理想的な音質を誇るオーディエンス録音を前に、最新ツアーの限定のプレスCDによるリリースが決定です！

マニアからすれば、この秋のアメリカ・ツアーのトピックは「Mull Of Kintyre」を演奏した17日のデトロイト辺りが気になるところであり、今回リリースする初日はこれといったポイントがない、単なるツアー初日にしか過ぎないライブだと思われるかもしれません。もちろん、オープニングの「Eight Days A Week」でポールが歌詞を間違えるといった初日ならではのハプニングも垣間見られます。ところが、です。それ以上に我々日本人にとっては目を疑うような楽しいハプニングがこの日のライブで起きました。オキ・マシタ！
ライブ前半は相変わらず武道館の影響下にある構成で行われているのですが、そんな中で「One After 909」が終わるとポールの口から驚くような発言が飛び出したのです。「みんな、日本の朝の挨拶の言葉を知ってるかい？おはよう！っていうんだ」と説明しています。最初は「？」と思われるかもしれません。しかし、ポールはこのライブの地、コロンバスがあるオハイオ州、つまり「オハイオ」という言葉と「おはよう」の発声が似ていたことに端を発したMCだったのです。つまり…これはオヤジギャグ、いや、ポールの年齢からすると爺ギャグ（失礼）を堂々と発した瞬間でした。
確かに我々日本人からすれば、おはようとオハイオは似ています。しかしそんなダジャレを言われたところで、コロンバスの会場に詰めかけた人たちこそ「？」状態でフリーズしてしまった（実際に反応は鈍いです）ことでしょう。つまり、われわれ日本人なら爆笑の場面が聴かれるのが今回のリリースという訳です。むしろ、ポールは4月末の日本公演がよっぽどいい思い出になっているであろうことが、この場面からも伺えます。ポールと言えば、80年の逮捕時に覚えてしまった「オス！」を好んで使うきらいがありましたが、ここにきてもっと日本人受けする言葉を使ってくれたのは嬉しい限り。彼はこの言葉をよっぽど気に入ったのでしょうか、ライブ後半「Hey Jude」においても会場を煽る際、完全に「おはよう」のイントネーションで「オハイオ」と言っています。

そしてライブ全体も大変に楽しめる内容で、ロラパルーザで大盛り上がりだった「Four Five Seconds」をその時よりもずっと長く、完全に一曲のレパートリーとして演奏しているのが目新しいのですが、コロンバスの観客にはさっぱりでした（笑）。むしろ、ここでは「Maybe I’m Amazed」が凄い！とにかくポールの熱唱が圧巻で、もしかしたら今年の同曲最高の演奏となるかもしれません。しかもここから会場が盛り上がっており、それだけに後で演奏された「Four Five Seconds」の盛り下がりぶりが際立ってしまいます。しかしポールはその後も絶好調で、アンコールの「Another Girl」でも声の調子が良く、この辺りもツアー初日ならではの光景がキャッチされているから聞き逃せません。ポールの最新ツアーからまさかのギャグが飛び出したライブ、しかも日本人だからこそ解るこのハプニングMCは実に愉快！もしこれが2009年のツアーだったら「GOOD MORNING OHIO」というタイトルでリリースしたかったところです…（笑）
