かなりかいつまみましたが、これが“DRESSED TO KILL TOUR 1975”の要点公演。『ALIVE!』は４公演から組まれたライヴアルバムであり、本作のロングビーチアリーナ公演は、その最中にあることが実感していただけることでしょう。
このショウは以前から極上音源が知られていましたが、本作はそのコピーでもリマスターでもありません。ごく最近になって話題の名門「KRW_CO」が発掘したマスター。大元のアナログ・カセットからダイレクトにデジタル化された最高峰版なのです。そのサウンドは「本当にオーディエンス!?」と頭を捻る凄まじさ。とにかく楽音も歌声も超クリア＆ダイレクト。会場反響など微塵も感じられず、ラインプラグを耳に直接突っ込んだようなド直結感な録音なのです。開演前や曲間等で生々しい喝采があるので「多分、オーディエンスなんだろうな……」と感じはするものの、普通に聴いていたらサウンドボードと変わらない没頭感を味わえるのです。しかも、マスター・ダイレクトの究極鮮度が猛烈。従来の音源は楽音こそ極太だったものの、ダビング劣化でエッジが丸くなり、テープヨレも散見しました。ところが、今回のダイレクト・マスターはそんな劣化が一切ない。まるで昨日録ったような……いえ、今ココでKISSが演奏しているようなフレッシュ感覚なのです。
それだけサウンドボードちっくな録音なのですが、やはり本作はオーディエンス録音なのでしょう。それを感じるのは苛烈なまでの“リアリティ”。歓声・熱狂のリアリズムも感じますが、それ以上に演奏の“存在感”が凄い。叩きつけるような演奏、メンバー間に空気が存在する呼吸感、そしてＰＡが大ボリュームに震えているのが感じられるほどのヴァイヴ。“ヤツらがいる”・“今、ここでロックしている”感がもの凄いのです。
そのサウンドで描かれるショウは、まさに“本生100％『ALIVE!』”と呼ぶに相応しい。セットは全曲『ALIVE!』の収録曲なのですが、複数公演の編集感もなければ、アナログ盤に押し込むための入れ替えもない。歴史を力ずくでひっくり返してみせた『ALIVE!』の熱演が、“そっくり現場そのまま”スピーカーから吹き出すのです。
ここまで凄まじいライヴアルバムに四の五の言っても始まりません。本作は“DRESSED TO KILL TOUR 1975”の最高峰、本生100％の現実感で味わう『ALIVE!』。それ以上でもそれ以下でもないのです（でも、「それ以上」なんてあり得ませんね）。
“サウンドボードなんて糞食らえ”なド迫力でフルショウを叩きつける超・極上ライヴアルバムにして、これ以上ない伝説ツアーの体験盤。KISS全史でも最高級の１本、堂々の新発掘です。
