本作に収められているのは、ロスアンゼルスの一大ヘヴィメタル・コンベンション「FOUNDATIONS FORUM ’90」のショウケース・ギグ。あの「PAINKILLER」の発売日から10日後で、ワールド・ツアーに先駆けて新作とスコット・トラヴィスのお披露目となったパフォーマンスなのです。そのサウンドはバリッバリのステレオ・サウンドボードで、完全に公式級……と言いますか、実際にリマスター盤「STAINED CLASS」ボーナスの「Better By You Better Than Me」や「PAINKILLER」の「Leather Rebel」など、実際に公式に使われている音源なのです。かつては、中途半端な曲数のブートレッグが出回ることもありましたが、本作は現存する最長バージョンです。
また、ショウケースだけに通常のライヴは雰囲気もセットリストも違います。公式ボーナスに採用された「Better By You Better Than Me」「Leather Rebel」の凄まじい激レアぶりも注目なのですが、それを自然なショウの流れの中で聴けるのが嬉しい。例えば、「Better By You Better Than Me」。この曲を聴いて少年が自殺したという裁判が起こされましたが、その裁判があったのは1990年。このライヴの２ヶ月前となる「７月16日から８月24日まで」裁判は続いていたのです。判決はもちろん無罪ですが、判決が出たからと言って彼ら自身の心の傷が癒えるわけではありません。その直後、初めて公に姿を現したのがこの日であり、だからこそ、12年ぶりに「Better By You Better Than Me」を演奏した。曲を始める前、ロブが「これは裁判の発端となった曲だ。皆、この曲でそんな事（銃で自殺）をやったわけじゃないってわかるだろ？」と語りますが、その言葉に、このパフォーマンスに込められた怒りとやるせなさは、計り知れないものがあるのです。
また、今や歴代最長ドラマーであるスコットも、この日が初お目見え。「Riding On The Wind」後に「Brand new member!!」と紹介するシーンも感慨深いですが、それ以上に大注目なのが「Ram It Down」と「Heavy Metal」の２連発！　先日リリースの「RAM IT DOWN IN NEW HAVEN」でも、公式級のサウンドボード・テイクが聴ける両曲ですが、本作ではスコットが叩きまくり!!　ドラムだけでなく、他のメンバーも先の裁判の件もあって怒りを全身から発散するような演奏が凄い。「RAM IT DOWN」の時点でポップ路線からの王道回帰は始まっていたわけですが、本作はそんな次元を軽く超えた、「PAINKILLERバージョン」と言ってもいいアグレッションなのです。この日を最後に、この２曲を演奏された形跡はありません。つまり、本作こそ「スコット初日＆最終演奏」。まさに、この日だけ。一期一会のウルトラ・テイクなのです!!!

「All Guns Blazing」や「Night Crawler」「Metal Meltdown」など、本ツアーで披露された新曲が聴けないのは残念ですが、サウンド・クオリティは間違いなく“PAINKILLER時代ナンバーワン”。さらに「Better By You Better Than Me」「Ram It Down」「Heavy Metal」「Leather Rebel」といった激レア曲がたっぷりと聴ける上、裁判直後の抑えきれない憤怒がこぼれ出す演奏は、「PAINKILLERのステージ編」と言ってもおかしくない。長い長いJUDAS PRIEST史上でも、ここまで素晴らしいサウンドで、ここまで特別な音源が他にあるでしょうか（強いて挙げるならロブがサバスで歌ったプロショットくらいでしょうか）!?
先日の「RAM IT DOWN IN NEW HAVEN」解説では「公式盤と並べて聴くべき１枚」と書きましたが、本作は、あらゆる意味でそれ以上。もはや「公式盤をほったらかしてでも聴くべき１枚」とでも言うしかありません。意味と意義とクオリティが、“聴いてないなどあり得ないだろ!!”と声高に叫ぶ１枚ですが、アングラゆえに不幸にもまだ出会っていない方もいらっしゃるかも知れません。そんな方は、今すぐ本作をご指定ください。悠長に迷っている場合では、ありません。
