Released at the end of 2002, the strongest set title “Rough And Ready Reel Masters” in Beck Bootleg history, which astonished fans around the world, will revive. A sound source of a 5-disc set box set which made five CDs of reel master which recorded the process leading to the final mix of the album “Rough And Ready”, which is believed to be owned by Koji Powell, is one It is recorded on CD. I wanted to own this kind of shape! There were also many fans who thought that it was. In overseas boot legs, titles that copied five CDs into one were on the market about ten years ago, but if you put 5 on the CD as it is, it will exceed 80 minutes, so there is one song out there Although 18 songs that were made were recorded, in the main board, by deleting the complete silence portion between the songs, we recorded all 19 songs completely. The recording time is 79 minutes 35 seconds. Since silence tape noise between songs has not been deleted, all the necessary parts are recorded. In the main board, noise at the beginning of the first song of Got The Feeling which seems to have occurred when it was transferred from the reel of 2002 and the noise which was scattered on the “BASF tape” track of Reel # 5, etc. all affect the original sound Removed to the extent of nothing. 19 tracks with the best quality can be enjoyed at a stroke by reel order (by the date stated)! In the original box, similar to that sound, surprising the world’s Beck collector was the text that was being added to the outer box of the reel, and the D & B head of the British CBS A & R head found in “Reel # 1” · Letters addressed to Loggins, as well as reprinted to Jake Inner. While compact in shape, both sound and binding, finished in one piece suitable for renewal.

Let’s play the sound that was contained in that 5 reels after a long time. It is surprising again that the freshness, clearness, goodness of separation of the sound, sharpness of punchy sound represented by Koji ‘s drum recordings. It can be said that it is a title that makes us think about what was the official “ROUGH AND READY” that I heard so far before version. Especially in the official, Got The Feeling and Situation, which was recorded with the speed and pitch dropped, as originally mentioned in the letter instructions attached to the reel of Jim Green Mix recorded in Reel 1, You can listen with the state take. JIM GREEN MIX 3 Even if you take one take, for example, MIX 1 begins with Kozy’s real voice count, vocal take is totally different, MIX 2 records a large hand clap, erases the Jeff’s slide in front of the piano solo There are various discoveries, such as forgetting, the last Bob’s cry is first appearance (Trk 2). However, before talking about the difference with such officials, everyone who has listened will be overwhelmed by the vivid sound and dynamism. By all means, I would like to invite you to the brilliant sound image that was mixed in the summer of 1971 and touch the essence of rock. The unpublished instrument number of “JULY 13 TH” that came out to the world for the first time at the appearance of this set is one of the main features of this title. It was an excavation tone generator of a shock with little unreleased songs (Reel # 2 is labeled “Rough Mix”, Reel # 4 contains more completed takes.) Also, Reel # 5 called “HIGH-LEVEL” is recorded with a very intense extremely full sound full of true dynamism which is not comparable with the official board, it is a must-make take that you can experience the tremendous force . I’VE BEEN USED is based on this track only base is fuzzless, and a little short version. (Either way, it is a remarkable advantage that the noise of Heads (Short Business) and Raynes Park Blues (Max’s Tune) of Reel 5 disappears beautifully.) This work is still a research It goes without saying that it is one of the highest peak in the world as an item. Decision board sound source collection that can touch the essence of the name board “ROUGH AND READY”.

★ It is a review summary of beatleg magazine vol.31 (February 2003 issue) at the time of original 5CD BOX release. It is a wonderful analysis and commentary, so I will write it here for your reference.

A surprising sound source was discovered. It is the final mix of “ROUGH AND READY” announced in the 2nd term Jeff Beck Group in October 1971. Because I pressed five reel masters on 5 CDs as they are, each recording time is short, but it delivers a dynamic sound that I can not think of things 30 years ago. Although it is said that sound quality is not modified at all in CD conversion, clearly speaking, the sound is better than the official CD. Bright Beck’s guitar, Cozy’s drum with attacks, Clear Max’s piano, the base of powerful clives, and dynamic Bob’s vocals. It can be said that the true appearance of “ROUGH AND READY” became clear.

“Reel 1”
Phil Brown is an engineer in the album, but here there are three mixes of “Got The Feeling” by Jim Green. Got The Feeling 1 starting with Cozy’s count is a different take in vocals and partly in lyrics, rhythm guitar is another take. Got The Feeling 2 is close to a 7 inch take, but guitars that can only be heard here are also overdubbed. Ending is also long, in the end you can also listen to Bob’s shout. Got The Feeling 3 is almost album take.

“Reel 2”
Situation, I’ve Been Used, Short Business seems to be more vivid, as the balance of the sound is slightly different from album take. The surprising song is July 13th, a completely unpublished one. It is thought that it is Max’s song with a gloomy instrument mainly piano. Although the guitar is only riff and there is no solo, the appearance of unreleased songs at this time is shocking.

“Reel 3”
Got The Feeling is close to album take, Situation seems to take 4 ch. Short Business has a guitar on the front and the vocals are also very clear. I’ve Been Used is a short version which made fading out earlier by overdubbing the guitar a little over the intro. This take is recorded in the recurrent LP of UK board.

“Reel 4”
Although sound balance is different, except for July 13th, it is close to album take.

“Reel 5”
As in the jacket “HIGH – LEVEL”, it is recorded with a wonderful sound. Short Business has a different vocal take and I’ve Been Used is a short version. Looking at the date of Reel 5, it can be imagined that after engineering the master to the record company, it was another engineering mastered. It would be unfortunate to think that the released “ROUGH AND READY” was such a sound quality at the time. “Got The Feeling” and “Situation” that you can listen to at the original pitch, precious information described in the case, unpublished “July 13th”, and the quality of the sound. Of course, I would like you to listen to rock fans who have heard of “ROUGH AND READY” not to mention Beck fans.

★ It is a review summary of beatleg magazine vol.173 (December 2014 issue) at 1 CD release. For your information.

“ROUGH AND READY REEL MASTERS” released at the end of 2002 reappeared after 12 years. This work, which is one of the very important boot legs for Beck fans, was a 5 box set box specification in the original board. This time editing the silence between the songs resulted in a recording time of 79 minutes and 35 seconds, making it possible for all songs to be recorded on one press CD. Fortunately the noise contained in the original board has been eliminated, so it is worth listening to fans you already have. “Got The Feeling” and “Situation” are slow, letters to Dan Loggins of the CBS record written instructions such as not to use Jim Green Mix, and five reel master packages containing valuable data The picture is being reprinted in the jacket. Got The Feeling begins with Cozy Powell’s counts as Bob Tench’s vocals take another take as the beatleg vol.31 has a detailed description of the sound, and there are also other endings and different mixes It is continuous of surprise. Among them, the recording of the completely unpublished instrument song “July 13th” is shocking, and the high quality sound of “Reel # 5” after Heads (Short Business) is also wonderful. I feel the impression of listening to the original board in 2002 as well this time.

★ ★ The title was released in 2014, sold out reservation in a blink of an eye, and had many requests for resale. Because all Beck · fan must listen to · important essential title, unowned one, thank you for not having overlooked this repress press release.

I’ve Been Used

Short Businessはヴォーカルテイクが違っており、I’ve Been Usedはショート・ヴァージョン。

“Rough And Ready” Separate Mix! It is! Guitar · solo, guitar · backing etc. The separately recorded take is not mixed but it is the emergence of an impressive item that you can experience separately with feeling like rear, front. Quadrophonic 8track is based on Quad 8 format, when playing with Quadraphonic 8-track player (with four heads), saying that odd tracks are Program 1 and even tracks are Program 2 Because it mixes with, if you play with an ordinary stereo 8 track player, you can listen to only half of the four channels. Because it sucked out data to CD this time, it became possible to listen with two versions. For example, in Got The Feeling (Program 1), no vocal / base / piano backing, guitar / solo, guitar backing is small, in Got The Feeling (Program 2) no vocal / drumless / You can enjoy two different take, obviously different, such as piano backing, no guitar solo, etc. Situation (Program 1) also knows that Beck’s play is not rough (in a good way) as you can see from the feeling of short delay. In Situation (Program 2) you hear the natural tone guitar that comes in from the beginning, and this is an accurate rhythm. With Max’s Tune (Program 2), solo of Elephi, snare of 2 beats and 4 beats does not enter, so you can listen to a very interesting take. (The song order of Max’s Tune and Short Business is recorded in reverse) Base / Less Short Business (Program 1), Drumless Short Business (Program 2), I’ve Been Used (Program 2) / New In Ways / Train Train (Program 2), for vocals / less, you can enjoy band ensemble at different angles. In the last track Jody, you can basically enjoy two different takes, vocal / drum only (Program 1), piano and base only (Program 2), and a completely different take. Seven tracks (14 takes) that inspire each member’s play to be transmitted vividly and directly. A special bonus item that can not be removed by Beck · fan definitely appears in the press CD.

★ It is a review summary of beatleg magazine vol.173 (December 2014 issue). For your information.

With “ROUGH AND READY REEL MASTER” ‘s first sticker with limited number entered, a press CD containing the sound source of the US version of “ROUGH AND READY”‘ s Quadrophonic / 8 tiger tape is attached as a bonus. It is the 8 tiger version of the 4 channel board which recorded the take difference. Even if I have a tape, I can not listen if there is no hardware, so I am pleased with the CD. Guitar solos and backing, vocals, bass, piano, drums are separated and you can listen to 2 versions of takes on the rear and front. It is interesting that the order of the songs of “Max’s Tune” and “Short Business” are different depending on the recording time, as the impression is different because the main guitar take is only available on the 4 channel board. On the 4 channel board, “Got The Feeling” and “Situation” were the same pitch as “REEL MASTERS”, but it is interesting that these eight tigers are slowing down.
Short Business(Program 2)、I’ve Been Used(Program 2)/New Ways/Train Train(Program 2)では、ボーカル・レスの為、違った角度でバンド・アンサンブルを堪能できます。
