まず、登場するのがGUNS N’ ROSES。1993年まで続いた“Use Your Illusion Tour”ですが、本作が記録されたスウェーデン公演は、その初期。本格的にツアーを始めた５月から、たっぷりと３ヶ月間アメリカを回り、その後ヨーロッパ入りしてから３公演目にあたります。ちょうど場数を踏んで調子を上げてきた時期で、もちろん、イジー・ストラドリンも元気にギターをかき鳴らしています。
“Appetite For Destruction Tour 1987-1988”から久しぶりに姿を現したGUNS N’ ROSESは、ディジー・リードやコーラス隊を迎えた大所帯。「ワイルドでリアルな“Appetite For Destruction Tour”こそガンズの真骨頂」という気もしますが、豪華なロックンロール・ショウを味わえながら、オリジネイターの凄味も聴かせてくれる（そして何より格段に上達した！）“Use Your Illusion Tour”が一番という方も多いのではないでしょうか。本作でも、まだリリースされていなかった「USE YOUR ILLUSION」からの新曲も交えながら、バラエティ豊かな２時間以上のフルスケール・ショウをたっぷりと聴かせてくれます。
そんな“美味しいショウ”を記録したのは、“北欧の魔術師”としてお馴染みのPer Erik。80年代後期から90年代初頭にかけ、メタル系の名録音を次々と発表している名テーパーです。彼のコレクションは、80年代に相応しいメリハリの利いたサウンドが多いのですが、本作はその中でも素晴らしく豪華。重厚なリズム隊からディジーのピアノ、「Civil War」の口笛に至るまで大量の情報でもクリアにすべてが克明に聞こえるのです。実のところ、録音したままの素のサウンドは、中高音が強調されて少々派手すぎるきらいもあったくらいなのですが、本作では録音の鋭さを緩和し、バンド・サウンドの豪華さが素直に感じられるよう、聴きやすいサウンドにリマスタリングしました。(テープチェンジのカットはPatienceの50秒目、Rocket Queen のエンディングの２箇所にあります。）
本作をさらに一層豪華にしているのが、ディスク３に収められたSKID ROW！　デビュー当初こそ“BON JOVIの弟分”と称されましたが、ご存知のとおり、バンドの本質はあくまでワイルド。本作でも、その本性をいかんなく発揮した爆走「Slave To The Grind」でショウは幕を開けます。GUNS N’ ROSESの「USE YOUR ILLUSION」と同じく、この時点では「SLAVE TO THE GRIND」はまだリリースされていませんが、まさに全米No.1同士のバッドボーイズ・コンビなわけです。
実際、本作から聞こえてくるSKID ROWのステージは最高！　GUNS N’ ROSESが“豪華”なら、SKID ROWは“ハイパー！”です。バラードの「18 And Life」も、跳ねる「Get The Fuck Out」も、へヴィな「Monkey Business」も、デッカいノリが大物感を感じさせつつも、若々しい勢いに溢れている。そして、なによりも素晴らしいのは、そこから “リアルなストリート感覚”が滲んでくることです。ラストの「Youth Gone Wild 」は圧巻！（テープチェンジのカットが3:56にあります。）“豪華なロックンロール・ショウ”とは言っても、能天気に陽気なパーティ野郎だったらGUNS N’ ROSESとは合わなかった。翌1992年にはGUNS N’ ROSES＆METALLICAのビッグなカップリング・ツアーが話題を席巻しますが、METALLICAでは重すぎてシリアスすぎました。そう、SKID ROWは単なる豪華なオープニング・アクトに留まらず、GUNS N’ ROSESと“リアルなストリート感覚”で繋がれた仲間感覚を持っているのです。巨大なロック・モンスターになって幾分、薄れがちだったGUNS N’ ROSESのストリート感覚を、グイっと引き戻すハイパーなSKID ROW。互いに通じ合いながら旨味が引き立てあう、まさに完璧なカップリングです！
そして、この２バンドが最高にワイルドに輝いていた瞬間は1991年をおいて他にない。グラムなＬＡメタルとも、怠惰なグランジとも違う、この２組が続けてロックするからこそ醸せる空気。そして会場に渦巻く、この大気がリアルに伝わるのもPer Erikの魔術録音なればこそです。オーディエンス録音だから伝わる空気、ブートレッグだから可能なカップリング。それを最上級のプレス３CDに真空パックした大作です。こんなに美味しいライヴ・アルバムは、そうそうありませんよ！
