GUNS N’ ROSESの……いや、ロック最強にして最高傑作が再び入荷いたしました。その“最強・最高傑作”とは、「1988年２月２日ニューヨーク公演」を収めた伝統の超・名作プロショット。大定番映像“クラブ・リッツ”の史上最高峰クオリティを更新した超アップグレード盤です。
本作は２年前に登場し、あっと言う間に完売になったもの。“セカンド・エディション”も入荷しましたが、これまた即完売。その後、オフィシャルから正規リリースがアナウンスされたものの、なぜか頓挫。未だに超えるもののない頂点映像を求める声が絶えず、こうして“サード・エディション”の登場となったのです（頂点故に、内容は完全に同一です）。この“リッツ公演”がいか凄まじく、そして、本作がいかに頂点なのか。ご説明していきましょう。
【頂点超えのスーパー・クオリティ】
このライヴはテレビやラジオで繰り返し放送され、数限りない既発タイトルを生み出してきただけに、ご覧になった方もさぞや多いことでしょう。しかし！ 本作はそんじょそこらのアップグレードとはワケが違います。DVDにはプロモーション用VHSから、CDにはWestwood Oneの“SUPERSTAR CONCERT”の放送原盤LPから収録しているのです。つまり、DVDもCDも“放送前”。エアチェックどころか劣化も一切なく、文字通り“これ以上はあり得ない”スーパー・クオリティのプレス２枚組みなのです！
実際、映像にはMTVの放送ロゴもなく、かつて“すげぇ画質だ！”と驚いていた既発タイトルでさえ、本作を観た後では画面ボケが気になって二度と再生する気になれないほどです。唯一、プロモVHSには「Mama Kin」が抜けていましたので、そこのみ既発の中からベストなものを厳選して収録しました。従来盤には曲順が狂っているものもありましたが、本作こそがライヴ当日に忠実な内容です。同様に、CDのクオリティもまったくパーフェクト。映像落しではなく、ラジオショウ・ディスクから起こしていますので、オーディオに最適なミックス。その上に丁寧な全力リマスターを施し、間違いなく過去最高。いや、これからも未来永劫、超えようがないベスト・サウンドに仕上げました。

As the vertex image of the monster band, the strongest pro shot & stereo sound board in the history of rock “RITZ 1988 DEFINITIVE EDITION”. In the original release and the second edition, I made a live album of another broadcast version as a bonus, but this time it is a special project. We will present you a compilation of original shoots of GUNS ‘5 shocks pro shot.
The point of this work appeared on TV. The pro shot of “APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION TOUR” is famous for Philadelphia performances and long-length images of Melbourne performances besides the main press press DVD, but there are many short pictures of TV appearances as well. This work features four high quality 4 programs (+ interview) among them. Let’s introduce one by one.
【March 31, 1988: THE LATE SHOW】
First of all, there are two FOX TV songs. “You’re Crazy” “Used To Love Her” in a pseudo concert style where audiences were put in the broadcast station studio. Suddenly at the opening “You’re Crazy” you may think that “DVD was broken!?” In the movie that was made chubby, but relief. Of course, this is the station’s side effect processing. Although it is a method that was common in the 1980s, when you look with the present eyes strangely cheaply “I think that it is extra … ….” “You’re Crazy” is a normal finish, but unlike real stage, it seems to be cramped. 【September 7, 1988: MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS】

怪物バンドの頂点映像にして、ロック史上最強のプロショット＆ステレオ・サウンドボード『RITZ 1988 DEFINITIVE EDITION』。オリジナル・リリースやセカンド・エディションでは別放送バージョンのライヴアルバムをボーナスに致しましたが、今回は特別企画。オリジナルGUNSの５人時代のプロショット集めたコンピレーションをお贈りします。
本作のポイントはテレビ出演。“APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION TOUR”のプロショットと言うと、本編プレスDVDの他にフィラデルフィア公演やメルボルン公演の長尺映像が有名ですが、それだけでなくテレビ出演の短い映像も多数あります。本作は、その中でもクオリティの高い４番組４曲（＋インタビュー）を特集したものなのです。それでは、１つずつご紹介しましょう。
【1988年３月31日：THE LATE SHOW】
まず登場するのは、FOX TVの２曲。放送局スタジオに観客を入れた疑似コンサート・スタイルの「You’re Crazy」「Used To Love Her」です。いきなり冒頭の「You’re Crazy」でカクカクとした映像に「DVDが壊れた!?」と思われるかも知れませんが、ご安心を。もちろん、これは局側の演出処理。80年代にはよくあった手法ではありますが、今の目で観ると妙に安っぽく「余計なことを……」と思ってしまいます。「You’re Crazy」はノーマルな仕上がりですが、やはり本物ステージとは違って窮屈そう。カメラ目線に迷うアクセルが初々しいプロショットです。
【1988年９月７日：MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS】
続いては、MTVミュージック・アワード授賞式でのパフォーマンス。ステージだとやはり輝きが違う。“いつも通り”の熱演をMTVらしいダイナミックなカメラワークで捉えきっており、「Welcome To The Jungle」１曲なのが残念になってしまう素晴らしさ。
ただし、ここでも観客はGUNS N’ ROSESのファンとは限らない。音声には黄色い嬌声が飛びまくるのですが、映像では腕の１本も挙げずにジッとステージを凝視している。その観客とアクセルの熱演、黄色い今日がなんとも不思議なギャップが凄い。最後にムカついたようにマイクを放ってステージを去るアクセル……。なんとも味わい深いプロショットです。
【1989年１月30日：AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS】
続いては、レア映像。アメリカン・ミュージック・アワードでの「Patience」です。1989年10月には“APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION TOUR”が終了しており、久しぶりに公の場で演奏したわけですが、この時スティーヴン・アドラーはドラッグ中毒の治療のために欠席。代わってスツールに座っている長髪の男は、EAGLESのドン・ヘンリーなのです。メンバーも珍しければ、雰囲気も珍しい。まるでピアノの発表会でもやりそうなステージで、そこに当代きってのバッドボーイズが穏やかに「Patience」を演奏する……。何とも不思議で他では味わえない映像です。
【MTV ROCKUMENTARY】
最後は、MTVの名物番組“MTV ROCKUMENTARY”を丸ごと収録。現象盤『APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION』で揺さぶられていた当時が強烈に匂ってくるドキュメンタリーで、ライヴショットと共にメンバーのインタビューもたっぷりと収録。この後、巨大化と共にオリジナル・ラインナップも崩れていくわけですが、その時代感覚が数々の映像と共に描かれていきます。
公式／非公式関係なく、ロック最強の１本である本編プレス『RITZ 1988 DEFINITIVE EDITION』。その超傑作は、どんな時代に生まれ、どんな匂いの中で呼吸していたのか。それを数々のテレビ番組から浮き立たせる１枚です。超名盤と共に、時代を丸ごと飲み込む傑作ボーナス。どうぞ、併せてたっぷりとご堪能ください。
