This is the summary of Greg ‘s solo performance of his lifetime. The number of performances is not certain as there are places that are obscure in the schedule, but I think that you can understand the approximate size. In 1981, he played with Gary Moore on the British rice, in 2005-2006 was a solo band, the last 2012 – 2013 was “SONGS OF A LIFETIME” standing alone on the stage backing karaoke. Among them, in 2005 this year he was leading a solo band of style. It is a concert that is the 15th show of the UK show.
As a matter of fact, it is the official professional shot, also known as Greg’s only solo live video “LIVE”. Previously, I have introduced John Wetton ‘s solo images “AMORATA” and “LIVE IN THE UNDERWORLD”, but this work is also one piece produced and released by overseas mania in the same way. As a result, bonus images (documentaries and rehears etc) that were included in the original release are excluded, but the former is official style only and the quality is perfectly indispensable Official grade.
The show drawn with that quality is also wonderful to remind Wetton’s “AMORATA”. “AMORATA” was a comprehensive show that mobilized masterpieces from Migratory Wetton’s career, but this work is also Greg’s music career itself. Naturally, 70’s EL & P accounts for half, but there are also 2 other KING CRIMSON songs, 1 EL & POWELL songs, 3 reorganized EL & P songs, and 80’s solo songs balanced (there is no ASIA in there, Please enjoy the vertex record with “DEFINITIVE ASIA IN ASIA (Virtuoso 370/371/372)”). Performance that plays it also has an ensemble of five band formation bands, and three guests add flowers there. Gary did not make a semi protagonist as in 1981, and it is not karaoke like 2012 – 2013. It is a rocked show while putting Greg in the absolute lead role, and there is no long talk like “SONGS OF A LIFETIME”. And a banded ensemble is also wonderful. Keith and Karl also listened to the EL & P number which introduced the guitar, but the arrangement of this work stands out because the importance of pure song stands out because the weight is placed on Greg ‘s “song” and “melody” is.
The back band is mostly a career group in the session field, but among them the only one shining is the Florian Opale familiar with JETHRO TULL / IAN ANDERSON BAND. I am rewriting KING CRIMSON / EL & P’s famous songs with the sense I showed at Ian Anderson’s Japan tour, and also showcasing superb Spanish solo at “Take A Pebble”. However, such a backband’s Banmas is not actually an opal but a keyboardist David Arch. There are many keyboard-oriented EL & P numbers, and his unique arrangement shines. You can listen to the furious rock and roll piano with the only solo number “Love You Too Much”. Also, the important voice of Greg is also wonderful. It is more beautiful than the restructuring EL & P in the 1990’s, although it is different from the delicacy like a boy who made me listen in the 70’s.

Progressive rock that scares sparks sparkly or playing power is attracting attention, but it also has a wonderful song and melody, leaving a name in history. This work not only summarizes Greg ‘s career, it is a show that highlights how good he was writing songs and beautiful melodies.
Such a settlement set was carefully played by skilled players, and it was one full recording with a super sharp quality pro shot. To enjoy the life of singer “Greg Lake”, it is the best masterpiece no more.

これがグレッグ生涯のソロ公演の概要。日程にあやふやなところもあるので公演数は確実ではありませんが、おおよその規模はご理解いただけると思います。1981年はゲイリー・ムーアとの共演で英米を巡り、2005-2006年はソロ・バンド、最後の2012-2013年はカラオケをバックにして独りでステージに立つ“SONGS OF A LIFETIME”でした。その中で本作に収められているのは通常スタイルのソロ・バンドを率いていた2005年。英国ショウの15公演目にあたるコンサートです。
実のところ、グレッグ唯一のソロライヴ映像『LIVE』としても知られる公式プロショット。以前、ジョン・ウェットンのソロ映像『AMORATA』『LIVE IN THE UNDERWORLD』をご紹介したことがありますが、本作も同じように海外マニアが制作・公開した１枚なのです。そのため、オリジナル・リリースに収録されていたボーナス映像（ドキュメンタリーやリハ等）は除外されていますが、元が公式作品だけにクオリティは完全無欠のオフィシャル級です。
そのクオリティで描かれるショウもまた、ウェットンの『AMORATA』を想起させる素晴らしさ。『AMORATA』は渡り鳥ウェットンのキャリアから名曲を総動員した総括ショウでしたが、本作もグレッグの音楽キャリアそのもの。当然、70年代EL&Pが半数を占めますが、他にもKING CRIMSONが２曲、EL&POWELLが１曲、再編EL&Pが３曲、そして80年代ソロが１曲のバランス（さすがにASIAはありませんが、そちらは『DEFINITIVE ASIA IN ASIA（Virtuoso 370/371/372）』で頂点記録をお楽しみください）。それを演じるパフォーマンスも５人編成バンドのアンサンブルが素晴らしく、そこにゲスト３人が華を添える。1981年のようにゲイリーが半主役を張るのでもなく、2012-2013年のようにカラオケでもない。グレッグを絶対の主役に置きながらもロック然としたショウで、“SONGS OF A LIFETIME”のような長ーい語りもありません。そして、バンド然としたアンサンブルも素晴らしい。キースやカールもギターを導入したEL&Pナンバーを聴かせてくれましたが、本作のアレンジはグレッグの“歌”・“メロディ”に重きが置かれているため、純粋な曲の良さが際立つのです。
バックバンドはセッション畑のキャリア組がほとんどですが、その中で独り輝くのはJETHRO TULL／IAN ANDERSON BANDでお馴染みのフロリアン・オパーレ。イアン・アンダーソンの来日公演でも見せてくれたセンスでKING CRIMSON／EL&Pの名曲群を塗り替え、「Take A Pebble」では見事なスパニッシュ・ソロも披露する。しかし、そんなバックバンドのバンマスは、実はオパーレではなく、キーボーディストのデヴィッド・アーチ。鍵盤主体のEL&Pナンバーが多いだけあって、彼の独自アレンジが光っている。唯一のソロナンバー「Love You Too Much」でも猛烈なロックンロール・ピアノを聴かせてくれます。また、肝心要のグレッグの歌声も素晴らしい。70年代に聴かせてくれた少年のような繊細さとは違うものの、90年代の再編EL&Pよりも美しいほどです。

とかく火花散るインタープレイや演奏力が注目されるプログレッシヴ・ロックですが、それもこれも素晴らしい曲、メロディがあってこそ歴史に名を残す。本作はグレッグのキャリアを総括しているだけでなく、彼がいかに良い曲、美しいメロディを書いてきたが浮き彫りになるショウなのです。
そんな総決算セットを腕利きのプレイヤー達が丹念に演奏し、超極上クオリティのプロショットでフル収録した１枚。シンガー“グレッグ・レイク”の人生を味わうのに、これ以上はない最高傑作です。
