流出物サウンドボード・ソースとしては、久々の快挙と言えるタイトルの登場です。1986年6月20日にロンドンのウェンブリー・アリーナで行なわれた「プリンシズ・トラスト10周年記念パーティ・コンサート」の完全収録盤。しかも音質がオフィシャル盤並みのクリアなステレオ・サウンドボード録音となれば、このコンサートに関わったアーティストのファンの方々の目の色も変わるはずです。ハウスバンドのメンバーは、エリック・クラプトン(gtr)、マーク・ノップラー(gtr：ダイアー・ストレイツ)、ミッジ・ユーロ(gtr：ウルトラボックス)、フィル・コリンズ(ds)、エルトン・ジョン(p)、ジョン・イルズリー(bs：ダイアー・ストレイツ)、マーク・キング(bs：レベル42)、ハワード・ジョーンズ(kbd)といった、80年代を代表したバンドの主要メンバーまたは不動のスーパースター達という錚々たる面子でした。ここにビッグ・カントリー、スザンヌ・ヴェガらが加わり、さらにジョーン・アーマトレイディング、ロッド・スチュワート、ミック・ジャガー＆デビッド・ボウイといった華やかなアーティスト達がハウスバンドをバックに歌うという、奇跡のようなシーンが繰り広げられたものでした。86年当時、オフィシャルライブ盤と映像作品がリリースされましたが、それらはコンサートのハイライト・シーンのみを収録した不完全収録版でした。さらに契約の関係から、ミック・ジャガー＆デビッド・ボウイのパフォーマンスが収められないなど、ファンにとっては消化不良とも言える内容になっていました。今回、独自入手したマスターはスタッフから流出したとしか思えない、完全なるサウンドボード・マスターです。多くの未発表部分を含んだ本盤ですが、中でもご注目いただきたいのが、ミック・ジャガー＆デビッド・ボウイの出演部分です。彼ら二人はこのショーのこの時だけのためにスタンダード・ナンバーをデュエットしました。これだけクリアな音質なので、二人のデュエットの様子はもちろんのこと、バックの演奏楽器まではっきり聴き分けられます。このパフォーマンスがサウンドボード・ソースで登場したのは今回が初めてです。ストーンズ・マニア、ボウイ・マニアは無視できないでしょう。クラプトン・マニアにとってもこの音源はレアな部分を含んでいて、彼のギタープレイはティナ・ターナーの登場以降、すべての曲で聴けますが、オフィシャル盤ではカット編集されていた、ポール・ヤング＆ジョージ・マイケルによるEvery Time You Go Awayをノーカットで聴くことができます。カットされていた部分はクラプトンのギターソロだっただけに、このフルバージョンはクラプトン・マニアにとっては嬉しいものでしょう。彼のプレイは終始右チャンネルの一番端にミックスされていますが、「Long Tall Sally」だけセンターにミックスされています(左チャンネルはマーク・ノップラーです)。全編を通じ、彼の繊細なリズムプレイまでが鮮明に聴き取れます。王室関連のイベントだからこそ実現した、豪華ラインナップでの奇跡的コンサート。その全貌が遂に明らかになります。プレスCDでの限定リリースになりますので、この機会をどうぞお見逃しないようお願いします。世界中の音楽ファンの間で、大きな話題を呼ぶであろう、大発掘音源タイトルです。
