先週、エリック・クラプトンの最新公演を公演後僅か一週間でスピードリリースさせていただきました。しかも当店の極上オリジナルマスターからのリリースでございました。おかげさまでたくさんのお客様からご注文をいただいたのですが、その後「こんな素晴らしい音質ならプレスCDでリリースする価値があるのでは？」、「この音源はプレスCDで永久に保存しておきたいものだ」などのご感想ご意見をいただきました。先週はとにかく1日でも早くお届けしたいという思いでCDRでのリリースに踏み切ったわけですが、そうしたお客様の声を聞かせていただくにあたり、このたびは、じっくりと当店エンジニアがマスタリングしてさらに音質をアップしたバージョンとしてプレスCDでリリースさせていただくことに致しました。「待たされてもいいから、最初からプレス盤で出してよ」とお思いのお客様、申し訳ありません。とにかくスピードリリースしたかったことをご理解くださいませ。既に先週リリースの４CDRを聴いていただいたお客様はお判りでしょうが、そのままでも十分高音質なマスターだったわけですが、本盤は両公演ともに　サウンドの輪郭をより鮮明にし、オーディエンスの拍手を緩和して楽音に集中できるようマスタリングした超高音質盤となっております。やはりプレス盤として出すだけの手を加えたグレードアップ・バージョンとなっているわけです。
さて、ここで改めて今年のクラプトンの活動をおさらいし、この公演がどういう位置づけになっていたかを見てみましょう（当店のリリース済みタイトルも付記します）。

ニューヨーク、ロンドン、ロサンゼルス、世界3ヶ所だけに集中した特別なコンサートだったことがお判りいただけるでしょう。それだけに世界中のクラプトンファンがここぞとばかりに資金を注ぎ込み、駆けつけました。ネット上のアップロードファイルをはじめ、数々の優良な音源がもたらされ、当店もオリジナルマスターを含み、リアルタイムで追いかけご満足いただけるクオリティでリリースしてきたわけです。クラプトンにとっては、この後の活動については一切触れていませんが、今月のアメリカ二大都市での公演が一つの区切りになることは確かでしょう。そのうちの一つ、MSG公演を最高の音質で完全収録したプレス盤が本盤なのです。先週のレビューでも述べましたが、この両日のクラプトンのパフォーマンスのクオリティは、その高さで甲乙付け難いものでした。両日とも好調で、リウマチの痛みを抑えるため膝にサポーターをしていた3月の同地での公演とは別格のプレイクオリティを示しています。今回、新たにセットに組まれたWhite Roomを含め、「A Celebration Of 50 Years Of Music」と題された公演に相応しく、クリーム時代のナンバーから70年代のソロ作品、90年代の「アンプラグド」ナンバー、そして近作からのナンバーと絶対はずすことのないオールド・ブルースカバーまでを網羅した、これぞクラプトンの歴史と言える内容になっていました。1曲1曲を聴きながら、オリジナル・バージョンがどの時代のナンバーだったか、その頃のクラプトンはどうだったか、そんなところに思いを馳せながら聴いていただきたい永久保存盤です。本公演の後に控えている怒涛のロス連続4公演。それを乗り切る確固たる意志とスピリットを既に見せてくれたのがこのMSG連続公演だったと言えるでしょう。アンコールには、3月の公演と同様、盟友ギタリスト、ジミー・ヴォーンと売り出し中の若手黒人ギタリスト、ゲイリー・クラーク・ジュニアがお祝いに駆けつけ、飛入りしていますが、彼らとのソロ回しにおいてもまったく退けをとっていない、いや、むしろフレーズの流麗さにかけては彼らを圧倒して健在ぶりを示しているのがクラプトンです。キャリアの最終章に差し掛かっていることは間違いないクラプトンというアーティスト。50年以上に渡り常にシーンのトップに君臨してきた彼の偉大さを本盤で永久保存しておいてください。シリアルナンバー入りステッカー付初回プレス盤は限定リリースとなっておりますので、どうぞお早めのオーダーをお願い致します。
