1973年にリリースされたUS盤コンピレーション盤の白ラベル・プロモ盤をダイレクトにCDR化。収録曲がすべてオリジナルアルバムからの抜粋であり、「LAYLA」とファーストソロを聴けば、事足りる内容ではありますが、現行CDでは味わえない、いかにもアナログ落としといったヴィンテージなサウンドは、なかなかオツなものと言えます。フロントに貼りつけられたPROMOTION COPYを示す丸い白地ステッカーと赤文字のCLAPTONが印象的なプロモ盤。と言ってもミックスに違いがあるわけでなく、収録曲も8曲だけ、収録時間も37分と、コンピレーションとして聴いて楽しむにも、なんとなく物足りないというか食い足りない内容ではありますが、70年代初頭でしかあり得ない、独自企画の選曲を、当時の質感のままダイレクトに楽しむのもこれまた一興です。実際、テスト再生していて、「このアナログ然とした質感が、何となく懐かしいな」としみじみと聴き入ってしまいました。原盤からダイレクトにデジタル化したため、スクラッチノイズが入り箇所もありますが、クラプトンの男前のジャケも含め、これはこれで十分の楽しめる独自企画です。せわしない師走のこの時期、一息ついて聴くには最適とも言える、何となく懐かしくも、ほっとできる一枚と言えるでしょう。
