先般、当店はエリック・クラプトンとエルトン・ジョンが1992年8月30日にロサンゼルス、ドジャースタジアムで行なったダブル・ビルコンサートのオーディエンスソース完全収録4CDR「ERIC CLAPTON & ELTON JOHN / DODGERS STADIUM 1992」を限定リリース致しましたが、30セットの完全限定だったため、予約時点で即完売してしまいました。その後、何とかこの音源を聴きたいとのお客様からのお声も寄せられていました。そのタイミングで当店は、クラプトンの公演部分に関し、格段に音質の良い完全別マスターによるステレオ・オーディエンス・マスターを入手致しました。しかしながらこのマスターは、Sunshine Of Your Loveの後半（15分30秒以降）が欠落しているという欠点を持っていました。そこで、当音源を望まれるファンのために、先日リリースのオーディエンス・マスターから補填する形で、さらに新入手のマスターをマスタリングし、格段に聴きやすく、完全な形でのリリースに踏み切りました！（Before You Accuse Meの5:51で一瞬音が引っ込んだようになるのは当日のPAのトラブルによるものです。（別音源の4CDRでも同じ箇所で問題が確認できる））マスタリングのポイントは、ギターやボーカルの音域が混ざり合っていたため、それを調整して聴き取りやすくしました。その結果、ギター＆ボーカルが前面に出て、ヘッドホンで確認すると、分離感がかなり増した音像となっています。原音と比較するとレンジの広がった深みのある音に変貌しています。リリースしておきながら申すのも何ですが、先般の4CDRタイトルとは格段の違いと言える本盤の音質です。まるでサウンドボード音源を聴いているような錯覚に陥るほど、楽音、ボーカルが粒立って聴こえます。そしてさらには、ボーナストラックとしまして、先般の4CDR盤で初公開となったこの日のエルトンのセットにクラプトンが飛入りした際に共演したRunaway Trainを、その「ERIC CLAPTON & ELTON JOHN / DODGERS STADIUM 1992」から収録しています。このテイクを聴くためだけに4CDR盤を買われたマニアの方々には申し訳ありませんが、やはりこの日のクラプトンの音源の決定版ともなれば、このテイクの収録は欠かせないでしょう。本盤はまさに楽音が拡散するオープンエア・スタジアムにもかかわらず、クリアで抜群のサウンドバランスで収録されていますので、クラプトンファンの方々におかれましては是非とも本盤もコレクションに加えていただきたいものです。4CDR盤のレビューでも述べましたように、このツアーは息子さんを不慮の事故で失ったクラプトンが再起を図り実施したもので、ライブ活動に没頭することに人生の糧を見出した彼のスピリットが溢れ出るステージとなっていました。前年末にジョージ・ハリスンとのジャパンツアーを成功させた、クラプトン曰く「世界最高のバンド」が再びクラプトンを盛り立てたステージは聴きものです。溌剌としたクラプトンのパフォーマンスに浸っていただき、当時の彼の心情を察し感慨にふけっていただくのも一興でしょう。この日の決定版としてリリースする大推薦盤です。どうぞお早めのオーダーをお願い致します。
