4ピース公演が6日、13ピース公演が6日、ブルース・ナイトが3日、オーケストラ・ナイトが3日の計18日公演でした。当店もBeanoレーベル、Uxbridgeレーベルを駆使してサウンドボードソース、オーディエンスソースの両面から4バンド形態すべての優良音源をリリースしてきたわけですが、大定番と言われているこの1月24日の音源はリリースに至っていませんでした。その理由は、他レーベルと同じコピーもののサウンドボード音源をリリースしても新鮮味がなく、他を上回る音質を実現することはないと考えてのことでした。ところが、今回遂にこの日の音源史上では間違いなく最高最長と断言できるマルチトラックマスターの入手が実現したわけです。これで胸を張って皆様に1月24日のベストタイトルをBeanoレーベルからご提供できることになりました。マルチトラックレコーディングだからこそ味わえるウルトラクリアネス、何の雑味もないストレートなサウンドがダイレクトに迫ってきます。もちろん一切編集のない元音源ですから、クラプトンのMCもノーカット。史上最長となっています。この「大定番」の日を敢えて説明することはもはや不要かもしれませんが、クラプトンが4ピースを「18ナイト」日程の最初に持ってきた理由、それは最小限のロックバンドユニットでのパフォーマンスをまずオーディエンスに聴かせたかったからだろうと考えられます。セカンドギターのない編成では、ギターはクラプトン一人。音の厚みはなくなるものの、小細工は一切なし、ストレートなギタープレイ一本で勝負しなければならない非常に責任の重いステージでした。その最終日となったのがこの日。そしてクラプトンは4ピースバンドの集大成と言えるパフォーマンスを見事モノにしたのです。19曲中7曲を占める「JOURNEYMAN」からのナンバーにはその意気込みが如実に現われています。こうした姿勢からもニューアルバムを引っ提げての「新しいクラプトン」を聴かせたかったことが窺えますが、この少数精鋭でプレイされた従来のヒット曲も切れ味抜群です。因みにオフィシャルライブ盤「24 NIGHTS」には、この日のRunning On Faith、White Room、Sunshine Of Your Loveが採用されています。この気力の充実したクラプトンの連続公演を祝うため、「JOURNEYMAN」にも協力した友人ドラマー、フィル・コリンズが駆けつけ、アンコールの3曲で参加しています。Knockin’ On Heaven’s Doorではハイハットのみをプレイし、味わいのあるステージを演出したほか、CrossroadsとSunshine Of Your Loveではタンバリンを軽快にプレイし、彩りを添えています。本盤を聴かれれば、「やはりこの日は定番となるだけの凄いステージだったんだなあ」と気づかれることでしょう。凄まじいクラプトンがここにいます。エアチェックやラジオショーディスクからのコピーとは決定的に違う、オリジナルのマルチトラックマスターの強烈な鮮度を是非ご体感ください。

From the historic 1990 Royal Albert Hall 18 consecutive performances, the final day of “4 Piece”, the 24th January performance is fully recorded with the professional shot video by the multi camera. The performance of this day was created as a pre-production with timecode at the bottom of the screen as well as the title “STAY GOLD” that recorded the orchestral knight, and a high generation version was distributed in part. This title was recorded from the tape which dubbed the master video at the time that it was made, there are several parts where the small analog noise due to aged deteriorates into the sound and scenes where the screen shakes only a few, but as this title The full volume is recorded with the highest level image quality & sound quality at the present moment. Especially the clarity of image quality is obvious, it is a picture that we can declare that there is nothing to excavate any more from this source in the future. 1990 RAH performance “4 Piece” decision board footage. 歴史に残る1990年ロイヤル・アルバート・ホール18連続公演から、「4ピース」最終日、1月24日公演をマルチカメラによるプロショット映像で完全収録。以前より映像として流通していた本公演ですが、それらとは一線を画した高いクオリティで全編を収録したタイトルの登場です。この日の公演はオーケストラ・ナイトを収録したタイトル「STAY GOLD」と同様、画面下部にタイムコードが入ったプリプロダクションとして作成され、ジェネレーションの高いヴァージョンが一部で流通していました。本タイトルは作成された当時、マスター・ビデオをダビングしたテープから収録されたもので、経年劣化による小さなアナログノイズが音声に入る部分と、ほんの小さく画面が揺らぐ場面が数ヵ所ありますが、このタイトルとしては現時点で最高レベルの画質＆音質で全編が収録されています。特に画質の鮮明さは一目瞭然で、今後このソースからこれ以上の物が発掘される事は無いと断言出来る映像です。1990年RAH公演「4ピース」の決定盤映像。今回、リリースされるプレスCD「ROYAL ALBERT HALL 1990 6TH NIGHT: MULTITRACK MASTER」と同じステージを映像から補完してくれる、これ以上はない高品質ボーナス・タイトルと言えるでしょう。
