新作『Long Road Out Of Eden』が好調なイーグルスによる、90年代の再結成後の3度目の来日公演から、1995年11月9日に行われた大阪甲子園球場でのスタジアムこ公演をオーディエンス収録した3枚組完全版。イーグルスの公演はギャラやチケット代は高いけど、おつりが来るほどのサービスぶりが好評で、常にライヴは3時間近くになる。とにかくイーグルスだけでもライヴ1回分のヒット曲を持っているにもかかわらず、ソロ活動でのヒット曲も惜しげもなく披露してくれるので、セット・リストも25曲を超えている。いくら全米を制覇したバンドとはいえ、このヴォリューム感、満腹感は、他のバンドでは決して味わえないものだ。彼らがフェアウェル・ツアーと題して一生涯ツアー三昧をしても、観客は何度でも見たくなる気持ちがわかる。本作は甲子園球場での半野外ライヴという、最近では夏のフェルティヴァルものでしか拝めないような規模のもので、イーグルスの単独コンサートを野外で満喫できた関西の人が実ににうらやましい。本作はデジタル録音されたオーディエンス音源で、演奏のステレオ感はあまりないものの、かなり良好な状態といえる。球場特有の、低域の回り込みのようなものが終始聞こえているが、再生の再に若干ベースをカットすれば済む話。低域がないよりはあった方が、ライヴものは実感が湧く。過大入力部分では歪む場面もあるが、基本はロックなんだから関係ない。セット・リストについては説明する必要はないだろう。当時の最新作『Hell Freezes Over』からの新曲はもちろん演奏しているが、中盤では過去2度の来日公演でこれほどまでに時間を割かなかったソロのコーナーが延々と続くのが興味深い。80年代にドン・ヘンリーもグレン・フライも大ヒットと飛ばしており、それぞれのヒット曲とジョー・ウォルシュのとぼけた自身作がくり広げられるだけで、コンサートが何倍も楽しめる。もちろん冒頭の「Hotel Carifornia」をはじめ「New Kid In Town」や「One Of These Nights」、「Heartache Tonight」などの全米No.1ヒットも漏れなく演奏されているので、どの時期のイーグルス・ファンであっても満足できる内容はさすがだ。年期と信頼が詰まった最高の来日公演の記録である。
