In 2003 it has been to Los Angeles. Signboard of the “reality” of Bowie just during the town was released at that time, posters and was full. In 2003, has already become a hot topic news that sales of CD is decreasing, then such as Tower Records is bankrupt, the situation surrounding the music industry were not may be poppy. Meanwhile, just one year To much from the “heathen”, the new album “Reality” of side dishes Bowie between most have been released. Music industry was suffering the sales decline is the way that large push the “reality” of this Bowie I witnessed.

Album “Reality” is the adult of the album that brew a cosmopolitan atmosphere. First track of “New Killer Star” is a masterpiece of unique vocalization of Bowie has been demonstrated along with the mysterious sound effects. It is a rare place that contains the cover of “Try Some, Buy Some” of George Harrison. Bowie seems especially covered because it was not like this song, but what of the part of the minor songs of such album touches on his heartstrings is unknown. It is also part of the Bowie respect is felt the covers in the form nearly complete copy. And other “Never Get Old” is used in the CM in Japan, newly important album for the fans is applied to the Bowie catalog. Then, tour with this album, was coming out to “A Reality Tour”.

When the reality tour has been announcement fans were surprised. Because it was a massive thing over to 112 performances in the real over all the five continents of the world. Large Bowie of enthusiasm to be applied to this tour, has appeared also serves as a promotion in a number of television in parallel with the tour. Large-scale tour up to this point, was really the first time since Glass Spider Tour. Large screen is disposed on the stage behind, directing a different visual effect. Irradiated pure white light is strong from the stage behind, figure that came to center stage begins to sing the “beloved rebellious” a cappella. Singing voice can be recognized because it is a Bowie because hear. But Bowie’s face because of the strong light irradiation is not visible. It adds a strong band there, playing at once spark, directing that light is finally Bowie dropped show up in front of an audience, but this is too another splendor. Set list is obtained by bird’s-eye view of the carrier of Bowie 30 years has been widely song selection from the initial to the latest album. Japan tour in 2004 Reality tour was carried out in the following schedule.

March 8, 2004 Nippon Budokan
March 9, 2004 Nippon Budokan
March 11, 2004 Osaka Castle Hall

This work, this one, and complete recording of the Nippon Budokan two consecutive performances. Bowie himself had humbly answer in an interview in 1990 with “I because I do not have so much a single hit like a Beatles and Stones”, still repertoire in career spanning more than 30 years is abundant. Whether or not a hit, it is also another story and whether it is a classic. And while following the basic set also, Budokan is a continuous performance, to enjoy fans come to both of the two days, it is also features’re changing the set list in two days.

[8 March 2004] Budokan was the first day this day, a lot of fans in an effort to catch a glimpse of Bowie for the first time in eight years came to the Budokan. Opening is as described above “beloved rebellious”. And early in the second song is also a new song “New Killer Star”. Interesting is the “China Girl.” After Bowie said, “you guys I sing” in front of pretend, but the audience is boiled greatly to the intro of that Charararara ~, Bowie is not issued to sing. It was the indescribably rare karaoke version. Stop playing immediately, it is a production that begins to sing the “China Girl” properly again. Also want to listen to either toward the audience as “” Be My Wife “and” Breaking Glass “? There is a place and ask “, from the fact that in the voice of the audience there is also a scene that played the” Be My Wife “, suggests is that he is also improvisation part set list. Why “Both (both!)” And said did not of whether (laughs). The song was played only the first day of a five songs of “Fame,” “Never Get Old”, “Life On Mars?”, “Days,” “Sound And Vision”.

[9 March 2004] Budokan second day also, as well as “beloved rebellious” is but I for the opening number, “Leave your intention” to the second piece is was suddenly set in. The is a song that did not play the day before, of course, surprised to also appeared early in the second song poke surprise “to leave your intention.” Other, and “Fashion”, “5:15 The Angels Have Gone,” “Reality,” “Slip Away,” “Afraid,” “Bring Me The Disco King,” “Fall Dog Bombs The Moon” as a song that did not play on the first day, indeed 8 also extends to the song. Although continuous performances by artists to change the set list is not a few, so much to be rare significantly replace. The last track “Space Oditi” of the disk 3 is merely hummed the part at the beginning of a cappella in the improvisation.

This work is one in which from reality tour Japan tour of only just three performances 2004, complete recording of the Budokan continuous performances. But at that time there are many also the title that was released in real time, this work appeared from a concert in 12 years, is a ultra-high quality sound source to surpass them. I think the quality is Itadakitaku sure to listen to sound samples. It should be noted that, Bowie sued the pain of the heart during this tour, to cancel the schedule in the middle, thus disappeared from the limelight over the subsequent nearly 10 years long time. Tour of the stand let alone stage this tour is the last. Permanent preservation firmly press platen of the beautiful picture disc specification.

なぜ「Both(両方!)」 初日のみ演奏された曲は「Fame」「Never Get Old」「Life On Mars?」「Days」「Sound And Vision」の5曲である。

その他、初日に演奏しなかった曲として「Fashion」「5:15 The Angels Have Gone」「Reality」「Slip Away」「Afraid」「Bring Me The Disco King」「Fall Dog Bombs The Moon」と、実に8曲にも及ぶ。
