Overall, 108 performances. “COMPLETE VISION IN DOME” in the middle stage, “MILTON KEYNES BOWL 1990 2ND NIGHT” in the second half, and “ROCK IN CHILE 1990” is the masterpiece of the final stage. In contrast, the Montreal performance of this work is “North America # 1” at the beginning of the tour. It is an extremely early live album that is also the second performance. It is possible to hold down the total world tour with these four works.
Such a work is exactly the best stereo sound board. Core thickness · Beauty of ringing · Detail · Master freshness …… Everything is superb. It is exactly “Official grade”, it is a wonderful sound of a famous board class even on official standards. However, what is slightly different from the official work is a mix. 以上、全108公演。『COMPLETE VISION IN DOME』は中盤、『MILTON KEYNES BOWL 1990 2ND NIGHT』は後半、そして『ROCK IN CHILE 1990』は最終盤の代表作です。それに対し、本作のモントリオール公演はツアー冒頭の「北米#1」。それも２公演目という極初期のライヴアルバム。この４作でワールドツアーをトータルで押さえられるわけです。
そんな本作は、まさに極上のステレオ・サウンドボード。芯の太さ・鳴りの美しさ・ディテール・マスター鮮度……すべてが極上。まさに「オフィシャル級」、それも公式基準でも名盤級の素晴らしいサウンドです。ただし、オフィシャル作品ともちょっと違うのはミックス。演奏・歌声は極太極まりないものの、大歓声の遠い直結系サウンドボード。ステレオ感も超絶ビビッドでして、例えば「Fashion」の巻き舌ヴォーカルなど、猛烈にパン。ヘッドフォンで聴いていると心臓に悪いくらいに鮮烈なサウンドボードなのです。
そのサウンドで描かれるショウの凄いこと……。もちろん、“SOUND + VISION”ですから代表曲・大ヒット曲の一気呵成。その豪華ぶりはこれまでの名作群でご紹介してきた通りです。しかし、その内容はやや違う。上記の四部作で言うなら日本公演の『COMPLETE VISION IN DOME』に近く、『MILTON KEYNES BOWL 1990 2ND NIGHT』以降にはない「Be My Wife」「Rock ‘N’ Roll Suicide」「TVC 15」も演奏しています。しかし、それだけで終わらない。さらに『STATION TO STATION』の「Golden Years」やシングル曲「Alabama Song」「John, I’m Only Dancing」も披露。「Alabama Song」は12年ぶりの復活ですし、「John, I’m Only Dancing」は15年ぶりにしてこのツアーが最後という曲。四部作でも最もレアな美味しいセットが極上サウンドボードで聴けるのです。
そんなセット以上に極初期ならではなのが、パフォーマンスそのもの。２公演目だけにスタートダッシュのフレッシュな情熱が素晴らしい。新しいアレンジを楽しむような初々しさ、世界に打って出る！という気迫が１曲１曲から滲むのです。さらに、この日は地元のダンスグループLA LA LA HUMAN STEPSが特別出演。「Fame ’90」のビデオ・クリップでも共演したルイーズ・ルカバリエが在籍しているグループで、モントリオールこそが本拠地。他公演でもビデオ映像が流されましたが、本作では生共演なのです。もちろん、音声に鮮やかなダンスは分からないものの、ボウイの歌声は特別な夜に高揚しているのです。
そして、そんなグレイテストヒッツ＋熱演に対面した会場の熱狂も凄い。前述したように大歓声が遠いタイプのサウンドボードなのですが、音量は小さくとも巨大なのはハッキリと分かる。臨場感とまではいきませんが、ステージの熱気はたっぷりと吹き出すライヴアルバムなのです。

豪華なヒット曲と大成功ムードの美味しい“SOUND + VISION”。その中でも超極上サウンド・格別の熱演・激レアなセットが１つに凝縮したライヴアルバムです。本作１本でも特別すぎる名作ですが、さらに『COMPLETE VISION IN DOME』『MILTON KEYNES BOWL 1990 2ND NIGHT』『ROCK IN CHILE 1990』と併せれば、全世界が熱狂した“SOUND + VISION”をトータルで味わえる。音楽アルバムとしてもコレクションとしても不可避な大傑作。永久保存プレス２CDで存分にお楽しみください。
