ボウイ50歳の誕生日を祝うイベントの模様が待望のトライアルレーベルからDVD-Rでリリースされた。1995年にナインインチネイルズと一緒にツアーした影響が大きかったのか、この1997年初頭にはジャングルビートとノイジーなサウンドを試みていたボウイは時代を狙っていた先鋭バンド達との共演により新たなファン層を拡大する目論見があったようで、結果として若者を中心としたかなり幅広いファンに名を知らしめることができたイベントになった。もちろん純粋な音楽的見地で見ても興味深いセッションがいくつも見られ、「Hallo Spaceboy」などは3人のドラマーがはじき出すパワーというものもあるが、やはりデイヴ・グロールの持つエネルギッシュなアプローチみよる完璧なサイバーパンクに仕上がっている。また、今考えればかなり時代を先取りしていた感性の持ち主だったロバート・スミスとの共演による非常にダークで繊細なアプローチもどちらの個性も消すことなく成り立っている面白い組み合わせや今やベテランのソニック・ユースとのノイジーは共演も良い。しかしやはり極めつけ当時「恋人との再会」と云われたルー・リードとの共演はひと味もふた味違う雰囲気は漂っている。それぞれに見所が多い2時間のイベントが完璧な映像と音声で収録された本作は既発アイテム全てを不要にしてしまう程の出来映えとなっており、初心者からマニアまで必携のアイテムと云えるオススメの作品。ライブのラストが「Space Oddity」というのもなかなか泣ける選曲。
