Styx – Allentown 2023 / 1DVDR / Uxbridge Allentown Fairgrounds, Allentown, PA, USA 30th August 2023 Click Image To Enlarge デビュー50周年を超え、今なお精力的に活動を続けているSTYX。その最新ステージを現場体験できる極上映像が到着です。 そんな本作が撮影されたのは「2023年８月30日アレンタウン公演」。その絶景オーディエンス・ショットです。新型コロナ・パンデミック空けと共に『CRASH OF THE CROWN』を発表した彼らはその後ツアー三昧。その勢いは２年が経過した現在も衰えていません。そんな近況を知る意味でも、まずは現在進行中の活動スケジュールからおさらいしてみましょう。 ●2023年 ・１月６日ー３月18日：米国#1（24公演） ・４月13日ー５月13日：米国#2（15公演） ・６月１日ー18日：米国#3（７公演） ・７月６日ー９月２日：米国#4（22公演）←★ココ★ ・９月21日ー11月11日：米国#5（20公演） ●2024年 ・１月５日＋７日：米国#6（２公演） これが現在までに公表されている2023年／2024年のSTYX。年間90公演という規模は全盛期にも劣らないわけですが、実は2000年代に入ってから（パンデミックの2020年／2021年を除き）ずーっとこのペース。日本ではなかなかSTYXの情報が入ってきませんが、とんでもないワーカホリックぶりです。現在は「米国#5」を控えて約３週間のオフを取っているところで、本作のアレンタウン公演はその直前。「米国#4」の19公演目にあたるコンサートでした。 そんなショウを真空パックした本作は、「超」の付く絶景映像。視界に遮蔽物が入ってこないわけですが、それだけでは済まない。撮影が始まった最初の一瞬からするとかなりの前方席（５列目くらい？）らしいのですが、そこからすぐグイグイとズーム。あっと言う間にメンバーがドアップになっていき、その後はプロショットの１アングルの様な超絶景に早変わり。もはや撮影ポジションさえ分からないアップ映像が連続するのです。 そして、そんな映像美に加えてカメラワークも匠の業。超アップのままズーム・アウトはせずに各メンバーを渡り歩くように見どころを追っていくのですが、その動きに迷いがない。狙ったメンバー１人ひとりを画面のド真ん中に据えたままアクションを追い、別のメンバーに視点を移すにしても揺れも迷いもなくシュート。そのキビキビした動きと安定感からすると、三脚を使用しているのかも知れません。 そんな絶景＆匠のカメラワークで描かれるのは、栄光の50年を濃縮したようなフルショウ。ここでセットも整理しておきましょう。 ●クラシックス（11曲） ・大いなる幻影：The Grand Illusion／Miss America／Fooling Yourself (The Angry Young Man)／Come Sail Away ・古代への追想：Blue Collar Man (Long Nights)／Renegade ・パラダイス・シアター：Rockin’ the Paradise／Too Much Time On ...

Billy Joel / Madison Square Garden August 2023 /1DVDR / Uxbridge Madison Square Garden, New York, NY, USA 29th August 2023 Click Image To Enlarge 久しぶりの来日が遂に決まったビリー・ジョエルの最新MSGショーを収録した極上オーディエンスショットが登場！ 長年に渡って続けられてきたマディソン・スクエア・ガーデンでの日々に終止符が打たれることが発表されただけに、この最新MSG公演においても会場の熱気が凄まじい。そんな状況の中で敢行してくれたのが今回の映像。 今年のMSG映像に関しては約半年前の『MADISON SQUARE GARDEN JANUARY 2023』が文字通りのベストセラーとなっていますが、ラッキーなことに今回の映像は前回とはちょうど反対側からのポジション。 映像として見比べてみてもMSG終了発表前の1月との盛り上がりの違いがはっきり伝わってきます。いや1月だって相当な盛り上がりだったのですが、先のような発表の後だけあって今回の盛り上がりは壮絶。 それ故に撮影は困難を伴ったのでしょう、オープニング「Miami 2017」の途中からの収録となっているのですが、そうした中で見事なクローズアップが連発される撮影状態は掛け値なしに見応え十分。（★オリジナルで欠落していた「Miami 2017」の前半部は、イントロから当日の別アングル映像を挿入することで完全収録を実現。） それに演奏内容がまた実に面白くて見どころの連続。ビリーがピアノから離れてマイクスタンドで歌う「An Innocent Man」の前ではローリング・ストーンズ「Start Me Up」のさわりを演奏する定番芸が始まるのですが、そこでミック・ジャガーの物真似込みで歌うビリーの傑作な姿を見事なアングルで捉えてくれている。 この日はさらに悪乗りして「Jumping Jack Flash」のさわりまでバンドが弾き始めるという場面もばっちり。 それが「The Longest Time」の前になると今度は観客も巻き込んでビーチ・ボーイズの「Barbara Ann」のさわりを歌う展開もレアで、そこもまた素晴らしいアングルで捉えてくれているのです。 そして「Don’t Ask Me Why」の前ではエルトン・ジョンの「Your Song」（これまた物真似込みで笑）のさわりまで歌うという大ハッスル。 また5月のMSGでは本当に久しぶりに「Los Angelenos」マニアをアッと言わせた訳ですが、今回はまたマニア泣かせの「Half a Mile Away」。名盤『52nd STREET』収録曲の中にあってライブ演奏の回数が極端に少ないレパートリーだけに、その演奏シーンを迫力のアングルで見られるのだからたまりません。 そしてこの日は「The ...

Bernie Marsden Trio / Marne La Ballee 2018 /1CDR / Uxbridge Billy Bob’s, Marne-la-Vallee, France 18th February 2018 Click Image To Enlarge 自伝『WHERE’S MY GUITAR』やギター・コレクション本『TALES OF TONE AND VOLUME』を上梓するなど、キャリアの総括に入っていた2018年のバーニー・マースデン。そんな彼のブルース・ロックを現場体験できる新名盤が登場です。 そんな本作に吹き込まれているのは「2018年２月18日マルヌ＝ラ＝ヴァレ公演」。その極上オーディエンス録音です。2005年にM3が解散した後のバーニーはソロに戻り、悠々自適な活動に終始。趣味的にブルースロックを追究し、ライヴと言えば大規模なツアーと言うより散発的なクラブ・ギグ。当時の資料はかなり曖昧（このショウも「２月18日」説と「２月23日」説があったりします）なので整理するのは止めておきますが、そんなキャリアでも2014年ー2019年はわりと活発にステージも行っていたようです。 本作は、そんなクラブ・ギグの現場を真空パックしたライヴアルバム。そのサウンドは、まさに極上の密室感。空気感を含んだオーディエンスらしいサウンドではあるのですが、物理的に狭いクラブだけに間近感も絶大。バーニーが目の前で歌い、ギターを弾いているのは肌感覚で味わえるのです。そして彼を支えるリズム隊もくっきり・はっきり。この日は『TALES OF TONE AND VOLUME』の付属CDでも共演したトリオ編成（盟友ニール・マーレイと元MAGNUMのミッキー・バーカー）で、シンプルなアンサンブルの１音１音が輪郭まで鮮やか。それぞれの演奏が絡み合って１本の荒縄を編んでいくのがよく分かります。 そんな秘匿の密室サウンドで描かれるのは、バーニー流ブルースロックの極地。WHITESNAKEの名曲も交えつつ、ブルースのクラシックスも盛りだくさん。ここで、その内容を整理してみましょう。 ●ホワイトスネイク（４曲） ・Walking In The Shadow Of The Blues／Fool For Your Loving／Ain’t No Love In The Heart Of The City／Here I Go Again ●その他（９曲＋α） ・フリートウッド・マック：Black ...
