2014年にリリースされたマスターボックスセットは、リマスター化を永く待ち望んでいた全てのブルースファンを納得させる素晴らしい作品でした。そして今回ご紹介するのは”Born To Run”のUSオリジナル盤です。このアルバムはファンにはお馴染みの幾つかのエピソードがあります。音楽的にはこのアルバムの制作時期にデビュー時からのEストーリートバンドのメンバーのうち何人かがバンドから独立することもあり、曲ごとにEストリートバンドのメンバーが異なっていたり、有名スタジオミュージシャンを招いて録音されていること。新たにプロデューサーを招いたこと。このアルバムの完成時にはこれ以降ブルースの現在に至るまでの音楽活動のパートナーとなるEストリートバンドのメンバーがほぼ確立したこと。そしてこのアルバムのアイテム的なことになりますが、発売前になってジャケットに表記されているブルースの名前とタイトルとが違う字体に変更されたこと（当初予定されてた字体でのテストプレス盤が存在しているのは有名です）。そして発売時にプロデューサーの名前の印刷にスペルミスがあり急遽そのミス印刷に正しい綴りが印刷されたシールを貼って発売されたことです。このオリジナル盤は上記の理由からプレス数が少ない為、レコードマニアには有名なレア盤の一枚となっています。

もちろん今回採用したデイスクはこのシールが貼られているUSオリジナル”Born To Run”です。肝心のオリジナル盤の”音”ですがご自身でお聴きになってご判断ください、と申し上げるのが正直なお伝え方だと思います。このアルバムを解説したDVDでブルース本人が語っている箇所を中心に注意深くお聴きになるとリマスター盤とこのオリジナルアナログ盤の明らかな違いがお楽しみいただけることと思います。だだ一言だけ申し添えるとすればこのオリジナル盤には世間で言われているような”霧”は感じられない”音”だと言うことでしょうか。1975年のリアルタイムの「音」で聴ける名盤「BORN TO RUN」を是非、お楽しみ下さい。
