Unreleased studio recordings STEREO SBD
Outflow studio album of ultra superb sound comes on. In our shop, we have offered numerous top sounding board albums of THE BLACK CROWES by our own route, but this work is its latest bullet. It is a treasure collection of treasured treasures by a master not even on the net.
The contents of this work are roughly divided into two. One is a long length album of “THE BAND SESSION” which became the prototype of “BY YOUR SIDE”. The other is a complete collection of tracks from 1992 to 2006. Both sources are treasured by original master. It is the ultimate superb sound board brought from the same route as that famous board “PITTSBURGH 1998 (Zodiac 228)”. Let’s quickly introduce each sound source.
【Disk 1: “THE BAND SESSION” ‘s long album】
First appearing is “THE BAND SESSION” recorded in May 1997. Known as “BY YOUR SIDE” outtake, this is the session where I saw the eyes of the rare track collection “THE LOST CROWES” of the official.
As a matter of fact, this disc 1 can be said to be a rough mix board of “THE BAND SESSION” recorded in “THE LOST CROWES”. The same take as the official board is included, but its sound mix and length are completely different. What is different is not the length. The official board was about 40 minutes, but this disk is a long version that lasts 72 minutes.
It is not only long but also the “sound” recorded there is wonderful. Although the official board is outtake, editing and mix is given as it is, making it an elegance as an “official work”. On the contrary, this work is “no record”. The studio’s conversation is also vivid and counts, starts over and is free of plenty of free jams.
An example is “If It Ever Stops Raining.” On the official edition is countdown following the first note of laughter and editing where the performance starts. However, in this work, I mistook the intro’s guitar many times and do it over and it gets talked to the conversation “You forgot to play the guitar (laugh)”. Also, the mix of the performance itself is different. For example, although the fiddle is overdubbed in the official “My Heart’s Killing Me”, this work is only the basic track, and the fiddle does not appear. Only the “live performance” which is just played in the studio is clearly emphasized.
From the conversation, the freshness of the performance, to the balance of each instrument, the sound that is ringing in the studio that is that story. It is a session album where you can accompany the studio with THE BLACK CROWES.
【Disk 2: Fully Published Take Collection】
The disc 2 that follows also is a studio recording collection brought from the same route, but this is pretty random content here. Both times and places fall apart, treasure troubles from 1992 to 2006 are lining up. I also thought about arranging them in time series, but this is also the truth of the secret master. This time, the spill master itself was accurately discized. Although it is the content, it can be roughly divided into the following 7 types when organized in time series.

From the take that has the date and purpose specified like this, to a wide range of uncertain take. Sounds and completeness are unbalanced, so it can not be said that “this kind of recording” is unconditional. However, everything that can be said reliably is that it is the best quality of first public release. Only the wonderful studio recordings, the hot THE BLACK CROWES ‘s rock, their plentiful breath is packed for over 70 minutes.
Over all, 39 tracks · 2 hours 23 minutes 25 seconds. It is super superb studio recording collection which leaked by its own route. Although it is super-class as a material sound source, it is more vivid than “THE LOST CROWES” and further closer to THE BLACK CROWES. Such treasures. Please do experience by all means.
超極上サウンドの流出スタジオ・アルバムが登場です。当店では、独自ルートによりTHE BLACK CROWESの極上サウンドボード・アルバムを数多くご提供してきましたが、本作はその最新弾。ネットにも出回っていないマスターによる秘蔵のスタジオテイク集です。
本作の内容は大きく分けて２つ。１つは『BY YOUR SIDE』の原型にもなった“THE BAND SESSION”の長尺アルバム。もう１つは1992年-2006年に渡る完全初登場トラック集です。どちらの音源もオリジナル・マスターによる秘蔵品。あの名盤『PITTSBURGH 1998（Zodiac 228）』と同じルートからもたらされた超極上サウンドボードです。それでは早速、それぞれの音源をご紹介していきましょう。
【ディスク１：“THE BAND SESSION”の長尺アルバム】
まず登場するのは、1997年５月に録音された“THE BAND SESSION”。『BY YOUR SIDE』のアウトテイクとして知られ、オフィシャルのレアトラック集『THE LOST CROWES』でも日の目を見たセッションです。
実のところ、このディスク１はその『THE LOST CROWES』に収録された“THE BAND SESSION”のラフミックス盤とでも言えるもの。オフィシャル盤と同じテイクも含まれているのですが、そのサウンド・ミックス・長さがまるで違うのです。何よりも違うのは長さ。公式盤は約40分ほどでしたが、このディスクは72分にも及ぶ長尺版なのです。
単に長いだけでなく、そこに収録されている“音”こそが素晴らしい。オフィシャル盤はアウトテイクとは言っても、それなりに編集もミックスも施され、“公式作品”としての気品を持たせていました。それに対し、本作はまさしく“録りっぱなし”。スタジオの会話も生々しく、随所にカウントややり直し、フリーなジャムもたっぷりと収録されているのです。
一例を挙げるなら「If It Ever Stops Raining」。オフィシャル盤では笑い声の一声に続いてカウントが入り、演奏が始まる編集です。しかし、本作ではイントロのギターを何度も間違えてはやり直し、「ギターの弾き方忘れたのかよ（笑）」という会話まで交わされるのです。また、演奏そのもののミックスも違う。例えば、公式盤の「My Heart’s Killing Me」にはフィドルがオーバーダビングされていますが、本作はベーシックトラックだけであり、フィドルは登場しない。まさにスタジオで演奏されている“生演奏”だけがクッキリと浮き立つのです。
会話、演奏の生々しさ、各楽器のバランスに至るまで、スタジオで鳴っている音そのまんま。THE BLACK CROWESと共にスタジオに同席できるセッション・アルバムなのです。
【ディスク２：完全初公開テイク集】
続くディスク２も同じルートからもたらされたスタジオ録音集なのですが、こちらはかなりランダムな内容。時期も場所もバラバラに、1992年から2006年の秘宝テイクが並んでいます。時系列に並べて整理することも考えましたが、これもまた秘蔵マスターの真実。今回は、流出マスターそのものを正確にディスク化いたしました。その内容ですが、時系列に整理しますと以下７種類に大別できます。

このように日付や目的が特定されているテイクから、かなり不確定なテイクまで多種多様。サウンドも完成度もバラバラで一概に「こういう録音」とは言えません。しかし、確実に言えるのはどれも初公開の極上クオリティということ。素晴らしいスタジオ録音ばかりで、熱いTHE BLACK CROWESのロック、彼らの生々しい息吹がたっぷり70分以上も詰まっているのです。
以上、全39トラック・２時間23分25秒。独自ルートにより流出した超極上のスタジオ録音集です。資料音源としても超一級ですが、それ以上に『THE LOST CROWES』よりも更に生々しく、更にTHE BLACK CROWESの間近に寄り添える。そんな秘宝たち。ぜひ、あなたもご体験ください。
