マニア必携Ｍクローデルレーベルより、ビートルズが出演したREADY STEADY GO!がリリースになる。マイミングながら、近距離に観客を入れてのライヴ演奏がメインで、さらにインタビューやファンとの交流の様子などが、たっぷり収録されているため、非常に人気の高い映像作品である。

このREADY STEADY GO!は、英国の番組ながら、不思議な事に当時日本のみのリリースで、世界中のマニアが日本からの輸入盤を買い求めたという珍しい現象が起きていた。しかも時代はビデオとLDが全盛であり、現代のように字幕のオン/オフが出来ないため、この時の映像は、放送局のマスターは別として、日本語字幕がついたものしか流通していないのが現状であった。

本作は非常にレアな、おそらくほとんどの方は初めて見るであろう、「日本語字幕なし」バージョンを収録している。地味な違いながら、これはもちろんコレクターズ・アイテムとして初登場。画面に一切余計なものが入らない、当時放送されたそのままの映像である。もちろん、日本語字幕入りのバージョンも併録しているので、いずれも楽しむことができる。

内容は、全3回の出演を年代を追って収録している。1963年10月4日収録のものは、初期ならではの初々しい襟なしスーツに身を包み、「Twist And Shout」「I’ll Get You」」「She Loves You」の3曲を演奏。特に「I’ll Get You」の演奏シーンが見れるのは、これが唯一のものである。

1964年3月20日収録のものは、お馴染みの黒いスーツ姿での演奏。「It Won’t Be Wrong」「You Can’t Do That」「Can’t Buy Me Love」の3曲を演奏。「It Won’t Be Wrong」は、これもまた演奏シーンが映像で見ることのできる唯一のものである。マイミングなのをよいことに、ジョンはふざけてまともに演奏していないのが見てわかる。

1964年11月23日収録のものは、髪が伸びて中期に行こうかという時期、前2回のアイドル然としたものとは雰囲気が異なり、ずいぶん風貌が大人びているのが伺える。演奏曲は「I Feel Fine」「She’s A Woman」「Baby’s In Black」「Kansas City Hey Hey Hey Hey」の4曲。

さらに本編とは別に、ボーナス映像では、再放送でカットされたシーンと、リハーサルのため車でスタジオに乗り付け、ステージの立ち位置を確認したり、出待ちしたりするファンの様子などが収録されている。

ビートルズが出演したREADY STEADY GO! 3回分を収録。演奏シーンとしては唯一となる「I’ll Get You」と「It Won’t Be Wrong」などを収録した貴重な映像作品。しかも超レアな初登場「字幕なしバージョン」と「日本語字幕ありバージョン」を併録。ボーナス映像では、これまたレアなリハーサル時の映像を収録。美しいピクチャー・ディスク仕様の永久保存がっちりプレス盤。
