それでも従来は、レギュラー・バージョンと同じ場合には、収録音源の価値は度外視されて、モノとしてのコレクションの価値で評価されていました。ところが最近の研究では、最先端のデジタル技術を使っての音源分析が行われるようになり、一聴すると同じ音源でも、細かい違いのあるミックスであることが判ってきました。従来はモノかステレオかという分類だけで同ミックスだと思われてきた曲も実は、リリースごとに細かい変更や修正や差し替えが行われていることが判明しています。この辺りの詳細な内容はバイブル、専門書をご参照下さい。

アセテート盤は、マスター製作段階でダイレクトにカットされたため、本来は超高音質とされていますが、何れも50年程度昔から伝承されてきた骨董品ですので、溝には細かいスリキズが生じております。針音等も収録されています。貴重な原音をデジタルアーカイヴとして生のまま残すため、微細な音を消し去ってしまうノイズリダクション処理や身勝手なイコライジング処理は施されていませんので、予めご了承下さい。この音源の場合、後に高音質化を謳うコピー盤が出ても避けたほうが良いです。

後半に収録されているのは、1964年11月17日に行われたBBCラジオの番組『TOP
GEAR』の収録時のレコーディング・セッション風景で、既発では5分程だけ聞けたものですが、ここでは何と約20分に渡って高音質で収録されています。レコーデング・エンジニアとのやり取りや、何度もスタートし直しながら慎重に進む工程は、アビーロードでのレコーディング・セッションとなんら変わらぬ緊張感と失敗した時の独特のおふざけを聞くことができる超貴重な初登場音源です。
