Just the other day, yesterday’s latest live performance that ended in great praise. The best sound board of that kickoff performance is appearing in press 2CD.
The last visit to Japan was November 2014, just two years ago. It was also Chris Squire last live concert. During the lifetime of Chris, the next tour has been decided, and they decided to continue the activities with the will. As a part of that, I returned to Japan. It’s a nice opportunity, let’s look back on the past two years here.

This is the event of the past two years. They replied with former member Billy Sherwood as Chris’ successor, but they restarted, but this year Alain White broke down. I complain about the intervertebral disc and I will leave the tour for surgery. As a pinch hitter, we continued the tour with Jay Cheren (a former HURRICANE, BADFINGER, ASIA, GPS etc) at the Billy Network. Originally, Alan was scheduled to return from the middle of “North America # 2”, but eventually it was prolonged, returning from this Japanese performance. Moreover, the main was Jay and it was an exceptional development that Alan appeared only in the final stage of the show.
This album is an audience album containing the first day “November 21, 2016 Orchard Hall Performance” even at such Japanese performance. I think that many people have visited Orchard Hall, but there were 4 performances at this venue this time. There are also people who are worried whether they are experienced shows, so let’s check it on a schedule.

This work which contained such a first day is a really wonderful superb recording. This show reports as a part of “TOKYO 2016 1ST & 2ND NIGHT (Amity 374)”, but this work is another recording by another recording person. The sound is also wonderful. No, the recording recorded on the Amity board 4 CDR of the preliminary report was also wonderful for the complaint, but the musical sound of this work is more vivid. Compared to “Amity 374”, the edge stands crisp and sounds like shining brilliance in transparent transparency. That sound is exactly the first day’s vertex recording … No, it is suitable for calling “Tokyo’s strongest.” This time YES is an unusual “recording fierce battlefield”, and abnormal circumstances in which many name recordings crowd together in all performances. Among them, this work is the “Tokyo Best” recording that I missed the first one (I can not declare that I have not made it until the final performance recording yet).
The yes show drawn with that sound is also wonderful! Four titles will also appear at a stretch this week, so I will avoid repeating, but the biggest listening only for this work is “Ritual” anyway. As I mentioned earlier, this day is Alan’s returning first night. Almost every show is Jay Sheren sitting on a stool, but Alan appears at the percussion part in the middle of “Ritual”. “I was worried that Chris and Alan … …”, but I can witness the moment that he returned to the stage. Besides, this is not the emotion of Japan alone. Recently the theme of album reproduction is the theme, “Part of the story of oceanographic topography” began to reproduce from “North America # 2”. In North America it was a full performance Jay, so it is from this day that Alan hits that percussion part as the originator.
That scene is also great impression. The spectators who listened quietly to the magnificent great songs are delighted and tearful just about this time. In this work as well, applause gets roaring and excitement spreads to Orchard Hall. Even after changing, Jane keeps preparing for any chance, Alan finishes the great music extensively. After that show, praise the name of Alan from inside the hall, a great applause and cheers for jubilation are awarded. Such a state is drawn with super clear sound.

YES returning to Japan that was “Chris’ last stage”. On that first day, the dramatic moment of returning to Alan is also a masterpiece of the live album that was recorded in Tokyo’s strongest sound. Just a moment of pleasure wrapped up not only with wonderful performances, beautiful music, but also the joy of the spectators’ joy. We will contain it in a press CD that will remain permanently and we will deliver it to you at hand this weekend.

つい先日、大絶賛の中に終了したYESの最新来日公演。そのキックオフ公演の最高サウンド盤がプレス２CDで登場です。
前回の来日はちょうど２年前の2014年11月。故クリス・スクワイア最後のコンサートともなりました。クリス存命中にも次なるツアーは決まっており、彼らは遺志を継いで活動続行を決意。その一環として日本にも戻ってきたわけです。良い機会ですので、ここでこの２年間の歩みを振り返っておきましょう。

以上がこの２年間の出来事です。クリスの後任として元メンバーのビリー・シャーウッドを迎えて再始動した彼らですが、今年になってアラン・ホワイトが故障。椎間板に痛みを訴え、手術のためにツアーから離脱してしまいます。代打としてビリー人脈の実力派ジェイ・シェレン（元HURRICANE、BADFINGER、ASIA、GPS等）を配してツアーを続けました。当初、アランは「北米#2」の途中から復帰する予定だったものの結局は長引き、この日本公演から復帰。しかも、メインはジェイのままであり、ショウ終盤だけアランが登場するという異例の展開となったのです。
本作は、そんな日本公演でも初日「2016年11月21日オーチャードホール公演」を収めたオーディエンス・アルバムです。オーチャード・ホールに足を運ばれた方も多いと思いますが、今回はこの会場で４公演もありました。実体験されたショウなのか気になる方もいらっしゃるでしょうから、日程で確認しておきましょう。

そんな初日を収めた本作は、実に素晴らしい極上録音。このショウは『TOKYO 2016 1ST & 2ND NIGHT（Amity 374）』の一部としても速報レポートしましたが、本作は別録音家による別録音。サウンドも輪をかけて素晴らしい。いえ、速報のAmity盤４CDRに収録された録音も文句ナシに素晴らしかったのですが、本作の楽音はさらに鮮やか。「Amity 374」に比べるとエッジがキリッと立ち、透き通る透明感の中でキラキラと輝くようなサウンドなのです。そのサウンドは、まさに初日の頂点録音……いえ、「東京最強」と呼ぶに相応しい。今回のYESは異例の“録音激戦区”となっており、全公演でいくつもの名録音がひしめき合う異常事態。その中でも本作は頭ひとつ抜けた「東京ベスト」な録音なのです（まだ最終公演の録音まで出そろってはいないので断言しかねますが）。
そのサウンドで描かれるYESショウがまた何とも素晴らしい！　今週は一気に４タイトルも登場するので繰り返しは避けますが、本作だけの最大の聴きどころは何と言っても「Ritual」。先述した通り、この日はアランの復帰第一夜。ショウはほとんどジェイ・シェレンがスツールに座っているのですが、「Ritual」中盤のパーカッション・パートでアランが登場するのです。「クリスに続いてアランまで……」と心配していましたが、その彼がステージに戻ってきた刹那に立ち会える。しかも、これは日本だけの感慨ではない。近年はアルバム再現をテーマにしていますが、『海洋地形学の物語』の部分再現を始めたのは「北米#2」から。その北米では全公演ジェイでしたから、あのパーカッション・パートをオリジネイター：アランが叩くのは、この日からなのです。
そのシーンがまた大感動。壮大な大曲を静かに聴き入っていた観客たちも、この時ばかりは歓喜・感涙。本作でもどよめきと喝采が沸き上がり、オーチャードホールに感激が広がる。交代後も、万が一に備えて側らにジェイが控える中、見事に大曲をフィニッシュするアラン。その終演後には会場中からアランの名を讃え、歓喜にむせぶ大喝采と声援が贈られる。そんな様子が超クリア・サウンドで描かれているのです。

“クリス最後のステージ”となった日本へ戻ってきたYES。その初日にして、アラン復帰の劇的な瞬間も東京最強サウンドで収めたライヴアルバムの大傑作です。単に素晴らしい演奏、美しい音楽と言うだけでなく、観客たちの沸き上がる喜びにまで包まれる喜びのひととき。永久に残るプレスCDに封じ込め、今週末あなたのお手元にお届けいたします。
