極上ソースにプロ仕様の機材・環境を駆使して完成した本作のクオリティは、まさに史上最高峰。海外ビデオ起こしとは次元が違い、画面端に起こりがちな歪みもテープヨレも線ノイズも一切なし。最高級クオリティのまま、30年後の時間を飛び越えている。しかも、この日本盤レーザーディスクは当時には珍しいデジタル音声。美麗な映像美に加え、音声も当時と寸分違わぬクオリティなのです！

そんな日本盤の旨みは、クオリティだけではありません。映像版「HEAR ‘N AID」は、セッション風景やインタビュー・コメントも大量にあり、それらに日本語字幕が付いているのです。セッションは大きく分けて４つで、リズム隊による「THE BASIC TRACKS」、シンガー達が入れ替わる「THE LEAD VOCALS」、ギターヒーローがそれぞれに弾き込む「THE GUITARISTS」、勢揃いの「THE CHOIR」。実際、このセッション風景こそが本作最大の見どころ。ロニーは歌うだけでなく、プロジェクトのプロデューサーを務めており、「THE LEAD VOCALS」ではドン・ドッケンに対し「ちょっとスムーズなようだけど……もっと攻撃的に歌ってくれ。歌のテーマは飢餓なんだから」と指示。それを受けてドンは真顔のまま「スムーズじゃダメ？　昔のアルバムから盗ってきたフレーズだろ！　知ってるぜ！」と応酬する。もちろん、これはジョークで、現場は爆笑。ロニーも「よく覚えてるな……昔は忘れて」とジョークで返しますが、一瞬ヒヤっとしつつ笑える空気感が字幕のおかげでダイレクトに伝わるのです。

クライマックスは勢揃いで熱唱する「THE CHOIR」。異様に仲が良いブラッキー・ローレスとケヴィン・ダブロウも面白いですが、ここで異彩を放つのはロブ・ハルフォード。30人ものブ厚い大合唱ですから、いかに個性的なプロシンガーでも誰が誰の声かは分からない。そんな中、明らかに独りだけ次元の違うハイノートが突き抜けてくるのです。さすが、さすがは鋼鉄神。人間ではありません。
