　場内の高まるムードを見事な明度と空気の広がりで収めたサウンドは、オープニング・イントロから絶品の一言。この当時ならではの「Lights Out」による劇的な幕開けは、暗闇がいきなり輝くような鮮烈さで聴き手を驚かせます！　フィルの個性的なヴォーカルを中心として、明瞭な見通しに確かな太さと厚みを持った演奏は聴き応え抜群。ソロでありありと浮かび上がるマイケルのギターはもちろん、ピート・ウェイのベースもズシンと響く存在感で聴き取れます。テーパーがステージに近かったのは音像からも明らかで、ダイレクト感溢れる音像は迫力満点。演奏中はオーディエンス・ノイズが邪魔にならないのも嬉しいポイントでしょう（しかし曲間では適度な歓声が聞こえ、臨場感も優れています）。
　この「Lights Out」を含め、新作からの3連発はいきなり聴き手の耳を惹き付けるでしょう。アンディ・パーカーのドラムも活き活きとした「Gettin’ Ready」、繊細さとハードさがUFO流のドラマとなって折り重なる「Love To Love」の見事さは言葉も出ないほど。「Too Hot To Handle」もすでに定番曲の存在感です。5曲目でいきなり登場する名曲「Doctor Doctor」の問答無用な演奏も含めて、ライヴは前半から圧倒的な充実ぶりを聴かせます！
　ライヴ中盤も聴き所の連続。ダニー・ペイロネルは脱退したものの、彼が関与した「NO HEAVY PETTING」ナンバーはこのライヴでも健在。この当時ならではの選曲「On With The Action」の重厚な演奏、曲名とは裏腹に明るい「I’m A Loser」などは、ファンの大きな歓声を集めています。さらに名作「FORCE IT」からの「Out On The Streets」・「This Kids」・「Shoot Shoot」が3連発される場面も、ライヴのハイライトと言って良いでしょう。
　ディスク2の冒頭、MCが導く「Rock Bottom」からはライヴもクライマックス。ポール・レイモンドのキーボードも明瞭にフィーチャーされたアンサンブル、スリリングなマイケルのロングソロともに聴き応えは満点！　ライヴのピークを最高の迫力と臨場感で満喫させます。アンコールはお約束の「C’mon Everybody」・「Boogie For George」に加え、前作からの「Can You Roll Her」が劇的に演奏され、約95分間のライヴを素晴らしい熱気の中で締めくくります！

　優れたライヴの内容に加え、アルバム・セールスも好調な事から、バンドは順調に思われましたが、この時点でマイケルはフィルとの関係によるストレスや、過度のアルコール摂取により追い詰められた状況でした。この状況に耐えられなくなったマイケルは、6月12日のロンドン”ラウンドハウス”公演（プロショット映像「ROUNDHOUSE 1975 & 1977」でも有名）が終わった直後、バンドに無断で失踪。故郷ドイツのハノーバーへと帰ってしまうのです。この緊急事態を受け、バンドはマイケルの代役として’74年に一時在籍していたポール・チャップマンを起用。7月から8月のアメリカツアーを乗り切る事になります。
　上記の理由などから、マイケルがプレイしていた「LIGHTS OUT」ツアーでの’77年ライヴ音源は意外に少なく、中でも抜群のクオリティを持つ本録音は特に貴重と言えます。UFOとマイケルのファンにとってぜひコレクションしたい一本が、その価値にふさわしい2枚組の完全限定プレスCDで、ここに堂々の登場です！
