当店から矢継ぎ早にリリースされ続けるヨーロッパツアーですが、あまりのリリース攻勢の中にあってファンの間でも忘れて去られていたかもしれないツアー初日、5月26日のオスロ公演が遂にリリースされます。このライブは今時珍しいモノラル録音のオーディエンス録音しか出回っておらず、それがまた忘れ去られる要因だったのですが、当店はこの音源を徹底的にクリーンナップ。プレスCDでのリリースに相応しいクオリティにまで磨き上げてみせました。一番の弱点であるモノラル音質に関しては広がりを持たせた疑似ステレオ処理を施しています。さらにモノラルだけでしたらまだよかったのですが、ギスギスした音質も緩和させ、今回も元音源と比べてはるかに聴きやすい状態へと生まれ変わらせました！
予期せぬ悲劇に見舞われたミックが果たして無事にステージを務めることが出来るのだろうか？という心配が5月当時にファンの間で囁かれたものですが、いざ蓋を開けてみればミックは持ち前のプロ根性と合わせて見事なステージを披露。その初日から彼やバンドがトップ・コンディションであったことを証明する歴史的なライブとなりました。やはり悲しみに暮れたミックを支えるべく、バンドも一致団結していたのでしょう、これがツアーの初日とは思えない素晴らしさ。
ライブの序盤はモノラル録音であることに加えて会場の出音の関係もあるのでしょう、ちょっと古めかしさまで感じさせてしまうダークな音質なのですが、ヨーロッパツアーで最初の演奏となった「Worried About You」辺りからはクリアネスも飛躍的に向上します。その演奏がまた非常に激しいもので、このままいけば初日ながらパーフェクトな演奏…となりそうなところでミックが勢い余ってしまいます。そんなところからも彼の復活ステージにかける意気込みが伝わってくるというもの。
この時点ではリクエスト扱いだった「Let’s Spend The Night Together」の前でミックがオペラ歌手のような奇声を上げるのがまた面白い！まだ曲の間でやたらと喋るチューリッヒの時のような印象はまだ見受けられませんが、それでも元気いっぱいな様子でステージに上がって見せたミックには感動すら覚えます。それにいざツアーが始まってみればそれまでレギュラーで演奏されていた「Emotional Rescue」はこの日だけの演奏となってしまい、むしろ有終の美を飾るかのような演奏となってしまいました。
この後ヨーロッパツアーは「Midnight Rambler」の進化と白熱が話題となってゆくのですが、これまた驚いたことに初日とは思えないほど演奏が白熱しており、既にそれまでのライブよりもワンランク上の盛り上がりを見せていたのです。中でもミック・テイラーのチョーキングとミックのハーモニカがぶつかり合う様子は鳥肌モノ。そしてアンコールの「You Can’t Always Get What You Want」ではあのリプライズが炸裂、初日ながらもストーンズがライブに満足していたことを証明するエンディングとなりました。これほどの演奏が飛び出すとなれば、あまりの演奏の充実ぶりにモノラル録音であったことを忘れてしまうかもしれません。そんな充実のヨーロッパ初日が限定のプレスCDにてリリース決定です！
