このように全９公演。もともとRAIBOW人気の高い日本だけに、金看板を持ち出したリッチーへの期待度は高く、ロニー・ジェイムズ・ディオ時代に次ぐ公演数となりました。本作は、その中の４公演目「1995年11月16日：大阪府立体育館」公演を収めたオーディエンス・アルバムです。録音したのは、90年代の西日本を代表するテーパー。デヴィッド・ボウイ『A REALITY IN OSAKA: THE LAST CONCERT IN JAPAN（Wardour-169）』やプリンス『ONE NITE ALONE IN OSAKA（ZION-080）』、KANSAS『OSAKA 2001（Virtuoso 298/299 ）』といった傑作群が大好評を賜っておりますが、そのオリジナル・マスター・コレクションなのです。上記のタイトルを１つでもお聴きになった方なら、その異様なクリア・サウンドを実感していただけると思いますが、本作もまた同等の強烈クオリティなのです。
そのサウンドは、まさにクリスタル・クリア。録音ポジションは伝わっていませんが、極太でゼロ距離の直球感で突きつけられる楽音は「まるでサウンドボード」を地でいく素晴らしさ。曲間には大歓声も起きはしますが、それが楽音よりも遙かに遠い。克明に刻まれた各楽器の鮮やかさと相まって、ていねいにミックスされたオフィシャル盤のようなバランスがたっぷりと楽しめるライヴアルバムなのです。
そんなサウンドで描かれるのは、正しく“ロックなリッチーの総決算”。ロニーからジョー・リン・ターナー時代までの代表曲をズラッと並べ、さらにDEEP PURPLEの「Perfect Strangers」「Burn」までも演奏している。70年代・80年代の旧RAINBOWは意図的にDEEP PURPLEを避けていましたが、ここでは“ブラックモア・ミュージック”を区別なくやりたい放題。バンド名にこだわらない姿勢は、2016年の新生RAINBOWにも通じるものです。そんな新世紀RAINBOW以上なのが、猛烈な現役感覚。なにしろ、新作『STRANGER IN US ALL』の10曲中７曲（つまり、「Cold Hearted Woman」「Stand and Fight」「Silence」以外の全曲）が演奏される。切々とした「Temple Of The King」から鮮やかに切り替わる新名曲「Black Musquerade」のダイナミックなこと……。この後、リッチーは21年に渡ってロックアルバムを作っていないわけですが、その最後の名曲群がたっぷりと詰まっているわけです。

1970年の『IN ROCK』から歩み続けて25年。まさに“BLACKMORE’S HARD ROCKの到達点”を極上サウンドで捉えきったライヴ・イン・ジャパンの大傑作です。新世紀RAINBOWが世界を沸かした2016年。今だからこそ心突き動かされる１本を、あなたに。
