1975 high-quality complete recording of the Boston performances

Global success October-December 1973 after the “madness”, Pink Floyd, of “madness” the personal belongings of the sound was practiced in “Money” and “Time” to leap the idea to use as instruments, real do not use any instrument to address the production of the album “Household Objects”. But work is extremely difficulty, production would be derailed (fragment thereof has been recorded by one songs of 2011 “madness”, “flame” both BOX). Gilmore says after that it felt as “madness” is too pop, but experimental from the fact that “Household Objects” fails, the long songwriting like band once of “Echoes”, “madness” and will be calculated again direction after.

As a result, in 1974 the French (June) and the United Kingdom (November-December) tour, and the first part to show off the new song of the long, it becomes configuration in Part 2 to reproduce the “madness” songs, new song “Shine On” as (about 20 minutes), “Raving and Drooling” (about 12 minutes), three songs of “You’ve Gotta Be Crazy” (about 18 minutes) has been unveiled. Nowadays it is a fact that well-known “Shine On” is the prototype of “Shine on You Crazy Diamond” of the “flame” to be released in September 1975, the two songs after January 1977 of release “Animals” recording of the “Sheep” was the prototype of the “Dogs”. Once a prototype of “madness” (March 73 release) is played from January 1972 of the tour, as went finished gradually work through live activities, “next work” of the “madness” is also, thus it is had been played from 1974 tour. These prototype 3 songs, now, take the Wembley concert in November 1974 can listen in “flame” BOX.

Perhaps Pink Floyd at this point, on one side the “Shine On”, I suspect to have been holding a concept album to record as “Raving and Drooling” and “You’ve Gotta Be Crazy” on the other side. Tour end shortly after next January-February, 1975 1974, Pink Floyd to start the recording of the new work at the Abbey Road Studios (in 2014, the studio of Shine On long version is believed of this session outtakes is flowing).

April 1975, by interrupting the recording of new, performing a North American tour-first-leg. Part 1 of the new song showcase, the second part of the “madness”, but the configuration of Angkor “Echoes” is not the same as the previous year’s tour, from this tour, “Shine On” is divided into two, of the two parts and of inserting the new song “Have a Cigar” between, you are changing the form closer to the “flame”. Title has also been announced as “Shine On You Crazy Diamond”. The “You’ve Gotta Be Crazy” playing time is shortened 5 minutes close, it has been changed to a size that seems to have assumed a studio album.

After the end of the North American tour-first-leg, once to return to the United Kingdom, resume the recording of new at Abbey Road Studios is, are two of the incidents have occurred between about 1 month up to North American Tour Second leg start . One, November 19, three new songs from Stoke performances 1974 (“Raving and Drooling”, “You’ve Gotta Be Crazy”, “Shine On You Crazy Diamond”) was recorded bootleg “British Winter Tour 74” is 1975 5 Around that was released. This is because the sound quality was good for its time in the rare color jacket as at that time, became a bestseller and is misunderstood as “new”. It is also said to have sold 150 000 sheets in one theory. Therefore Pink Floyd was supposed to be forced into situations where not afford to not to release the new with the same contents. Another, June 5 (?), To the Abbey Road Studios members who had done a mix of themed Shidobaretto “Shine On You Crazy Diamond”, suddenly, the appearance of the univariate was Sid himself It represents the figure, it was that it was startle, upset the members who.

Immediately after the reunion of impact with Sid, June 7, Pink Floyd to start the second leg of the North American tour. Although set list is exactly the same as the first leg, made the above-mentioned during this period, “British Winter Tour 74” is the best-selling, because the new song is gone in the new song, probably during the second leg, members who initially was scheduled (and was going production) it is believed that it was decided to modify these new. Ironically, 1974 Tour, North American Tour First leg, only after you’ve gained the study and during the studio recording, degree of completion of new song group in North America Tour second leg is very high, also play You look amazing. Therefore, the first part of the second leg (new song 5 songs) DISC 1 of this work was recorded are those to say the finished form of the “new” in the vision that should have gone to release the brink at that time. “New” is, if I had been released, probably “Raving and Drooling” and “You’ve Gotta Be Crazy” is A-side, “Shine On You Crazy Diamond ~ Have a Cigar ~ Shine On You Crazy Diamond” is the B-side In a braze will.

Pink Floyd finishing a North American tour, after starring in Knebworth Festival in July 5 in the UK, do the last recording of new. In this process, finally as “Raving and Drooling”, “You’ve Gotta Be Crazy” became death, became the new “Welcome to the Machine” joined the “Wish You Were Here”, “flame”. In the last part of “Shine On You Crazy Diamond” is, whether the need to pad the Duration in change of songs has occurred, “part IX” is newly been added. On the other hand, “Raving and Drooling” and “You’ve Gotta Be Crazy”, respectively the “Sheep” and “Dog” titles lyrics is changed, it will be recorded in “Animals” later. That it is possible to hear a different version of all lyrics and “Animals” in this work. By the way, “Dogs” in “Animals” because had to occupy almost all the surface A, about 17 minutes, it is interesting is returned to scale comparable 1974 tour.

1975 North American tour, second leg, in addition to the four of Floyd, Dick Parry (sax), 2 women backing vocals (Venetta Fields, Carlena Williams) (more than ’74 tour with the same). Because it does not participate in the Snowy White still supporting members to participate in the next tour, the listen basically four of organizing the music of the “flame”, “Animals” is this time unique.

“Animals” of 1977 is probably partly due punk movement, had turned into overall straight playing in rough, two songs of “The Animals” prototype to be heard in this work DISC 1 (“Raving and Drooling “,” You’ve Gotta Be Crazy “) arrangements, rather close to Odoroodoroshii atmosphere of the medium-term Floyd, impression is quite different. Especially based “Raving and Drooling” is reminiscent of “One of These Days”, seem to feel like wearing a song in “One of These Days” Speaking by force. Also as previously described both songs with lyrics are quite different from the “Animals” (also 74 Toshi-ban slightly different). It should be noted, Gilmore in the first half in the “Dogs” in the “Animals” is, although the latter half of the singing Waters, this “You Gatta Be Crazy” same 1974 tour also the second half in, Gilmore is singing. “Have a Cigar” is taking the lead vocal in the guest Roihapa In the “flame”, here, sang in (as well as the alternative version of 2011 of “flame” BOX recording) Waters and Gilmour is Unison to have. Play also, which was a solid hard rock natural than “fire”.

This work DISC 2 are recorded and “madness” songs corresponding to the second part of the concert, the “Echoes” of Angkor. “Echoes” is that the sax and women chorus enters, it is a rare arrangement of 74-75-Year Limited, will not be playing this tour at the end. Songs reproduction of “madness” Including the album release (March 73) before the prototype, it has been done every year in the tour since ’72. However, in this case, for example, or “The Great Gig in the Sky” is sung by two women vocal 1974 tour as well, and can not end of the song became a jazz-ish deployment, live unique studio there is also fine differences between versions. “Any Color You Like” also featuring female vocals, it has become a more free key deployment.

The maximum of listening far from that surprisingly also say is, of much long than the studio version of the “Speak to Me” might be in the “On the Run”. SE effect both songs have been emphasized than the studio version, three-dimensional acoustic space that created by the surround to say the entire venue is now at that time advanced 360-degree sound system, along with the excitement of the audience that was thrown into there , it comes through in realistic plenty only in ultra-high-quality stereo sound source audience. Or could sound is not likely the only Boston 75 sound source can experience this effect. Given these points, 1975 version to listen in this work “madness” is not a faithful reproduction of mere ’73 studio version, it can be said that the final form that has undergone further evolution through the studio version of the “madness” from 1972 prototype The in or not, come to you even feel that. It should be noted that, if the another the later years of Girumoazu Floyd, the “madness” is reproduced songs in four Floyd, including the water vinegar, this tour is the last.

In summary, this work (Boston 75 sound source) is recorded illusion of complete type of “new” after “madness” that it was thought to disc 1 at that time in ’75, the disc 2 and the final development of the “madness” , so that (“Atom Heart Mother” with) Floyd is a monumental work which he is the author of the medium-term recording a unique arrangement of version of Echoes, that. Moreover, it, the best sound quality definitely in the ’75 tour, yet can be relive in stereo sound source.

This work, two of the taper of the legend, the sound source by Dan Ramp ski and Steve Hopkins that was matrix. Ramp skiing sound source, classic sound source, which is known as the pinnacle of the ’75 tour. Also Hopkins sound source, but does not extend to Ramp skiing sound source, high-quality sound of a classic. Through the mix two, thereby realizing the sound of the stereo. Ramp skiing sound source has several places of the missing ones to surpass the Hopkins sound source in the sound quality, the portions are supplemented with Hopkins sound source. The contents of significance, adequacy, completeness of the performance, three points of the goodness of sound quality are aligned, it is workmanship enough not amusing even officially release this leave. Permanent preservation Athletic Press board of beautiful picture disc specification. With Japanese band.

ひとつは、1974年11月19日ストーク公演から新曲3曲(「Raving and Drooling」「You’ve Gotta Be Crazy」「Shine On You Crazy Diamond」)を収録したブートレグ『British Winter Tour 74』が1975年5月頃リリースされたこと。

「新作」は、もしリリースされていたら、おそらく「Raving and Drooling」と「You’ve Gotta Be Crazy」がA面、「Shine On You Crazy Diamond~Have a Cigar~Shine On You Crazy Diamond」がB面であったろう。

この過程で、最終的に「Raving and Drooling」と「You’ve Gotta Be Crazy」は没となり、新たに「Welcome to the Machine」「Wish You Were Here」が加わって『炎』となった。 一方、「Raving and Drooling」と「You’ve Gotta Be Crazy」は、それぞれ「Sheep」及び「Dog」とタイトルも歌詞も変更され、後に『アニマルズ』に収録されることになる。

特に「Raving and Drooling」のベースは「One of These Days」を彷彿、強いて言えば「One of These Days」に歌をつけたような感じにも思える。

「Any Color You Like」も女性ボーカルをフィーチャーした、よりフリーキーな展開となっている。
