今年は当店から例年に無いほど多くのフロイド良タイトルが登場しました。しかしその頂点に君臨するのは何といっても9月に登場した『HAKONE APHRODITE 1971 MASTER RECORDING (Sigma 138)』を於いて他に無いでしょう。箱根音源史上初登場となった当日の「太陽讃歌」の完全収録、そして遂に登場した完全ノーカット” 版 “の「エコーズ」が含まれるなど、全世界のフロイドファンを驚嘆させたセンセーショナル・タイトルでした。マスターにやや不具合があった音像も、直後に登場したリマスター&レストア版『HAKONE APHRODITE 1971 MASTER RECORDING : REMASTERED RESTORED (Sigma 139)』で完璧にレストアされ、まさに2015年のフロイド非公式盤を代表する傑作タイトルとなったのは皆様御存知の通りです。通常は行わない画像付きの事前アナウンスを行った事もありましたが、フロイドのタイトルで即日予約完売したのも当店ではこれが初めての快挙でした。

ところでそんな箱根アフロディーテの音源に、かつてアナログ盤ブートレッグが存在したのを御存知でしょうか。それは通称” ピース・レコード “として知られる限定100枚しか存在しない幻のレコードで、ホワイトラベルにピース・マーク(※ ☮)と” RECORD “という文字がタイピングされたシールが貼ってあるだけの極めてシンプルな、しかしその異様な存在感の煌きがコレクターのアンテナには只ならぬ要チェック危険信号を放つウルトラ級のメガレア盤です。レコードの製作は1970年代で、資料によるとこれは71年に箱根アフロディーテに行ってフロイドを録音した製作者が自身の記念に製作したものと言われています。店頭での展示・販売は一切行わず、親しい知人と当時の関係者のみに配布して終了したという完全なプライヴェート盤で、プレス数も僅か100枚のみだったそうです。商業用として作られたものではなかった事もあり直ぐに無くなってしまった様ですが、そのためタイトルもなく、ジャケも元々存在せず、半透明の袋のみで白スリーヴにも入っておらず、簡素なラベルのみの装丁となっています。右の商品画像と本作ジャケにはレコード原盤の写真が掲載されますので是非御覧戴きたいと思いますが、恐らく殆どの方がラベルすら見た事が無かったのではないでしょうか。しかもこの大元のリール・テープはもう存在しない事が分かっており、その貴重さは今後ますます増すばかりなのです。

またその収録内容もウルトラ・レアで、特にここで聴ける「シンバライン」は21世紀の現在でもこの録音でしか聴く事が出来ない唯一無二のテイクとなっています。以前当店でも扱ったSirene盤の2枚組『APHRODITE (Sirene-160)』に収録された同曲もこのテイクからのコピーでしたし、人気のSigmaレーベル『APHRODITE 1971 (Sigma 117)』と、その新装版『APHRODITE 1971 (Sigma 133)』のディスクエンドに収録されたものもこれと同一です。こうした事から現在このレコードはコレクター垂涎の一枚となっており、あまりに貴重過ぎて値段など付けられないメガレア盤となっている訳ですが、とある高名なフロイド・コレクター氏に伺ったところでは市場に出ればまず10万円は下らないだろうとの話でした。

そんな貴重極まりない通称” ピース・レコード “ですが、かつてこれが一度だけCD化された事がありました。1990年代にリリースされた『APHRODITE (DYNAMITE STUDIO – DS94J058)』です。熱心なファンの方であれば一度は手に取られた事があると思いますし、このタイトルで初めて箱根アフロディーテのフロイド演奏を聴いたという方もかなり多くいらっしゃると思います。今回、緊急入荷される本作はその往年のDYNAMITE盤にも使用されたウルトラ・レアな “ピース・レコード”を、現物の原盤から直接トランスファーした激震のプレス盤タイトルなのです!!

…と、こう書きますとDYNAMITE盤をお持ちの方は「えー、じゃァもう音を知ってるからいいや」となるかもしれません。でもまさにそれこそが本作最大の登場理由であり、お伝えしたい特別なトピックでもあるのです。それは2つあり、まずひとつはあの慣れ親しんできたDYNAMITE盤のサウンドが実はかなりイコライズされた産物で、原盤のイメージとは掛け離れたサウンドだったという事実です。これは今回、原盤を実際に入手出来たからこそ分かった大発見なのですが、最新のターンテーブルとプロ機材用の業務用針で慎重に再生した原盤はDYNAMITE盤とは比較にならないほどの厚みと弾力が音にあり、音像そのものが濃密で、且つ全体に麗しい湿り気まで感じさせる特級サウンドだったのです。長く親しまれてきた往年の名盤を悪く言うつもりは全くありませんが、でもこれを聴くとDYNAMITE盤がいかにそのサウンドを平坦で軽いものとして伝えていたかが誰の耳にも分かる筈ですし、原盤はそのくらいに音触と音色が桁違いに違っていたのです。そしてもうひとつのトピックは、DYNAMITE盤ではほぼ全てのシーンで非常に目立っていた針パチノイズが、本作にはほぼパーフェクトと言えるほど存在しない点です。全く無いとは言いませんが、むしろパチ音を見つけるのが難しいくらいに透明で質の高い重厚な音像が桁違いの聴き心地を放っているのは間違いありません。本作をお聴きになれば使用した盤が単にメガレアであるだけでなく、そのコンディションと収録音もメガ級のクオリティを放っている事を御理解戴けるでしょう。

また本作はこのピース・レコードのダイレクト・トランスファー盤ですので、原盤の全てをそっくりそのままプレスで落とし込んでいます。LP盤収録時間の配分上、曲順が大幅に入れ替えられている姿もそのままですし、ピッチ補正以外のリマスター処理等も一切していませんので、まさに原盤そのままの収録音が出てきます。しかしそれでいてここまで水準の高い、針パチほぼ皆無の高品質サウンドが飛び出すのは正直言って驚異的ですし、慣れ親しんだあのサウンドが原色で現れる驚きを最高値で御楽しみ戴けるタイトルになっています。DYNAMITE盤はブートレッグCD黎明期のタイトルでしたが、今回のストレートな原盤起こしタイトルはそれ以来約20年振りの更新となりますので、音源としての価値もアッパー感もまさに鮮烈そのものです。

DYNAMITE盤で聴き慣れた方にはもう御馴染みだと思いますが、最後に原盤のサウンドがどれだけ違うのかを書き出してみましょう。音を御存知の方が多いと思いますので、頭の中にあるその音とこの文字情報で一足先にDYNAMITE盤との違いや原盤の魅力を把握して戴ければと思います。

まず冒頭は当時の人気DJによる例の挨拶ですが、実際にあの声が出てくるまでに約5秒間ほどの無音部分が設けられており、DYNAMITE盤ではカットされていたこの無音部分がディスクスタートから原盤オリジナルの姿で出てきます(※勿論その間も針パチ音は皆無です)。直後から始まる「グリーン・イズ・ザ・カラー」は例のカットイン状態で登場しますが、芯の入った音色の膨らみと滑らかで艶のある音像は出だしからDYNAMITE盤とは別物の印象を放っており、ギルモアの歌声の質感もこれまで知っていたイメージとは別次元の温もりと音の肌触りで現れるので仰天されるでしょう。「ユージン」も導入のオルガンが実際の会場で鳴っていたであろう本来の音色で出ており、出てくる音色の威力も全然違っています。ベースもこれまでとは全く印象の異なる弾力を伴っていて、ロジャーの押し殺した様な奇声とギルモアのファルセットの交差もこれまで慣れ親しんできたあの音像を遥かに超える眩しさを放って出てきます。スクリーム後に音楽が激しく運動性を増してゆく姿も非常に濃密なサウンドで現れるのですが、これを聴いてしまうとDYNAMITE盤のサウンドがいかに淡白で重みの無い平坦なものだったかが判然としますし、原盤の音像がどれだけ興味を掻き立てるサウンドであるかも分かる筈です。「エコーズ」は例の如く前半と後半のフラグメント収録ですが、しかし断片とはいえこの時の演奏が持っていた知の閃光が原盤ならではの音色で放たれますので、今頭の中にあるその慣れ親しんだ音のイメージが一瞬で消し飛ぶこと確実です。前半の歌詞が終わってから音楽が大きくうねってゆく姿もDYNAMITE盤がダイナマイトに吹き飛ぶほど太い像を描いていますし、トラック5で再び歌唱パートに戻ってから演奏が炸裂する音像も、その重量感と濃密感に殆どの方が未知の興奮を呼び覚まされるでしょう。

「原子心母」からはB面です。これも導入部からこれまでとは比較にならないほど重心の低い曲うねりと弾力感が色濃く出ていて、各パートの音色も今まで慣れ親しんでいた音は何だったのかと思えるほど太く艶やかに出てきます。オルガンの響きの密度も素晴らしく、ギルモアのファルセットが入ってくるところ(※5分02秒~)も声の浮遊感と響きの拡散がDYNAMITE盤を一蹴する濃密なサウンドで出ており、その声とオルガンの対旋律が眩しく交差する姿もこれまでとは質の違う高い陶酔と音の香りが音像全体に充満してゆきます。また9分00秒ジャストでドラムが入ってからも2声の動きとオルガン、ベースがそれぞれスッと立った音で出てきますが、中央に纏まった音像の中からそれぞれのパートがこれだけ華やかな音の開花を見せるのは原盤LPだけでしょう。「シンバライン」も原盤でしかあり得ない特濃鮮烈なサウンドが魅力で、ギルモアの声とオルガンも場の空気をたっぷり吸い込みながらDYNAMITE盤以上の直球音で耳に届きます。放たれた全ての音がスウッと暗闇に溶け出し、箱根の山間に吸い込まれる様子がこれまで以上に映像的なサウンドで流れ、薄くて淡いセピア色だった音の興奮をより濃厚なセピア色に塗り変えてくれるでしょう。また曲中の数箇所で花火が鳴る様子も原盤ならではの芯の入った鮮烈さでその炸裂音が飛び出しますので、実況録音盤としての質の高さもここに極まれりといった感じです。終曲直前にカットされショウエンドを迎える例のシーンも、この原盤の描写力に充ちた音色で聴くとDYNAMITE盤で感じたジレンマなどものの数ではないほどの苦おしい悶えが確定しますが、しかしそれもまたこの音源の個性として強く再認識出来るでしょう。

2015年はフロイド箱根アフロディーテの音源史に大きな福音がもたらされた重要な年となりましたが、その最後にこのピース・レコード原盤が登場するのは良い締め括りとなるでしょう。恐らく今回初めて現物LPの写真を御覧になった方が多いと思いますが、これを当店関係者が殆どミント・コンディションで入手出来たのは本当に奇跡的だったと思います。しかしそうであるからこそ、これを90年代にいち早くリリースしていたDYNAMITE STUDIO盤が実は相当に奇跡的なリリースだった事も今改めてお分かり戴けるのではないでしょうか。もう間もなくクリスマスや年の瀬がやってきますが、このピース・レコード原盤はどんな最新録音よりも豊かなものを耳元に、それこそサンタクロースでも抱えきれないほどの音楽の悦びとピースマークをいっぱい運んでくれるに違いありません。
