1972年8月25日BBCスタジオと、同年8月17日ミュンヘンでの公演（9/17説もあり、実際は5トラック約38分収録）をプロ・ショット映像で収録！どちらも、73年のドン・カーシュナー・ロック・ショウetc…マハヴィシュヌの定番映像（4月29日のニューヨーク／シラキューズ大学でのパフォーマンスも画源として残ってますが、こちらはモノクロ）ですが、既発とは比べ物にならないマスター・クオリティーで収録されており、マクラフリンの手元アップ等、鮮明すぎる画像には終始圧倒されてしまいます。楽曲はいずれもファースト「The Inner Mounting Flame（71年）」からの選曲になっており、（ちょうど72年8月はトライデント・スタジオで「火の鳥」（73年）のレコーディングを行っていた時期です）さすがにこの時期だけに、マハヴィシュヌ史上一番充実していたといえる、向かうところ敵無しのアンサンブルをリアルに垣間見る事ができます。（翌年になると、マハヴィシュヌ以外の、メンバーそれぞれのプロジェクト、ソロ活動が目立ってきており、そのためか6月にトライデント・スタジオでレコーディングされた３rdアルバムはお蔵入りになってしまいます。(99年には「The Lost Trident Sessions」としてリリース）もちろん全トラック余すとこなく見所だらけですが、とくに73年2月頃までしか取り入れていないアコギを使った貴重なA Lotus On Irish Streamでの、マクラフリン、グッドマン、ハマーの美しいインプロヴィゼーションは間違いなく必見です！74年（第2期）は、オフィシャルでモントルー・ジャズ・フェスの映像がリリースされてたりしますが、第一期の映像は、殆どリリースされていないだけに、今回の映像はファンには堪らないものと言えるでしょう。まさに第一期マハヴィシュヌの壮絶なパフォーマンスを理想的な映像で贅沢にパッケージしたファン必見のスーパー・アイテムの登場です！

Mahavishnu Orchestraの定番映像をカップリング。今回のリリースのメイン映像は、1972年8月にBBCスタジオで収録されたもので、おそらく再放送を録画したものだろう。公式リリースにも耐えられるほどの超高画質だ。演奏曲目は、彼らの1stアルバム『The Inner Mounting Flame』からで、この8月にレコーディングをしていた次回作『Birds Of Fire』収録曲は、すでにステージでは「Sanctuary」や「One Word」は演奏されていたものの、この収録では演奏されていない。どの映像を見てもBilly Cobhamのアクションにカメラがフォーカスするが、このBBCでも同様だ。ラストの「Noonward Race」は冒頭のMcLaughlinとCobhamの壮絶なデュオが楽しいが、1972年4月にPuerto Ricoで開催された「Mar Y Sol Festival」での比ではない（未CD化）。ボーナスには、BBC出演の1週間前に行われたMunich公演から2曲。これも再放送の映像でBBCほどではないが画質は良い。ただし、本放送時に含まれていた「The Noonward Race」、「A Lotus on Irish Streams」、そして新曲の「One Word」が再放送時にはカットされているのが残念。ここでもカメラはCobhamにフォーカスし、「Meeting of the Spirits」では千切れそうになるほどに首を横振りする強烈なパフォーマンスを見ることができる。メンバーは、John McLaughlin (g)、Rick Laird (b)、Billy Cobham (drs)、Jan Hammer (key)、Jerry Goodman (vln)。
