なんだこれは!?　サウンドボードですよ？　しかも、卓直結のっ！　先日、マイケル・シェンカーとの“奇跡の共演”で沸かせてくれたGRAHAM BONNET BANDの来日公演。そのパーフェクトなステレオ・サウンドボードが飛び出してきました!!　MICHAEL SCHENKER’S TEMPLE OF ROCKの分はありませんが（あったら心臓止まりそう……）、どうやら関係者流出らしく、そのクオリティは正しく完璧。耳に直接プラグを突っ込んだようなダイレクト感、終始わずかな乱れもない安定した録音……IEMsなどとはまったくレベルが違います。なにより、その触感が卓直結に間違いないギラッギラのピッカピカのライン・サウンドなのです……。一体、こんなものがどこから!?!?
本作に収録されているのは、「2015年６月14日大阪」と「６月15日名古屋」公演のGRAHAM BONNET BAND。このツアーは、マイケル・シェンカーとの共演が公表されていたため、どの会場も満員御礼。大阪も名古屋も１階スタンディング・エリアは立地の余地もなく、「前に詰めてください！」という最近のHR/HMライブではなかなか聞かれないアナウンスが開演直前まで頻繁にされていました。そのパンパンにはち切れんばかりの期待感が爆発する様は、先日リリースされた「SPIRIT ON A MISSION IN JAPAN: OSAKA & NAGOYA」にも真空パックされています。かの名タイトルは、演奏が熱狂に邪魔されないスーパー録音でしたが、本作は卓直結のため、歓声はほとんどなく、それ以上に演奏もグラハムの息づかいまでもが耳元に繰り広げられるのです！
実際、本作を再生するとイントロのシンセＳＥからド直球。まるでスタジオ盤のよう……、いえ、それ以上のリアリティです。そして、歌い出される「All Night Long」。普段、GRAHAM BONNET BANDがどの程度の規模・客層を相手に演奏しているのか分かりませんが、恐らくは結成以来初めてであろう大熱狂を前に気合いも十分。御年67歳のグラハム・ボネットは、パワーやコントロールまで全盛期と比較できませんが、加齢で声質まで変わってしまうシンガーもいる中で、記憶通りの“あの声”を張り上げて熱唱しています。バックバンドも好サポート。正直に見たときには、見た目がやたらと地味なギタリスト、コンラード・ペシナードの印象はほとんど残りませんでしたが、こうして詳細まで耳元なサウンドボードで音だけ聴くと意外に（失礼！）活躍している。基本的には堅実なプレイですが、「Suffer Me」でのブルージーな独自の味付けはなかなかのものです。
さらには、ドラムのチェイス・マンハッタンも良い。派手な暴れ方はしませんが、コージー・パウエルの思い出が染みついている名曲群を違和感なく聴かせるだけでも凄いですし、新曲の「Mirror Lies」でもコージーを思わせるフレーズを挟んでくれるのが嬉しい。どうせなら最新EP「MY KINGDOM COME」のタイトルトラックを聴きたかったところですが……（グラハムとラス・バラードの組み合わせに駄作なし！）。その「Mirror Lies」、グラハムがギターを弾くという珍しいシーンも見られたのですが、大阪ではギターの音が出ず、どうしたんだ？と思ったら単にグラハムがギターのシールドを刺していないという天然ボケ（笑）をかましています。
そんな新バンドの中で現場の目を引いていたのは紅一点、ベースのベスアミ・ヘヴンストーン。ご覧になった方はご存じと思いますが、グラハムとかなり親密なご様子。実際の関係がいかなるものか分かりませんが、演奏中にもボディタッチやらキス、手でハートマーク作ったり………。好みの分かれるシーンも見せていましたが、その幸せムードのおかげかグラハムはいつになく安定し、声が出ないパートでもフェイクに逃げない全力モード。大阪では「もう酒は飲んでないんだよ」と言っていますが、それだけ好調なグラハムを支えているのは、彼女存在なのかも知れません。そして、本作は音だけサウンドボードですからベスアミのコーラスやグラハムの本気度だけが伝わり、恩恵の方だけをたっぷりと教授できるわけです。また、このベスアミは日本語も堪能。「あ、17年前です。日本を勉強していまして……でも、とっても忘れてます。あなたに会えて嬉しいです」など、彼女の日本語MCもサウンドボードでクッキリと聴けます。

なにはともあれ、グラハム久々のサウンドボード。それも関係者流出ならではの、卓直結＆極上クオリティの１本です。超満員の大熱狂でよく聴けなかったサウンドの機微、グラハムの一声一声が超鮮明に聞こえ、新たな発見の連続。特にＰＡの調子が悪かった大阪公演までオフィシャル以上のサウンドで聴けるとは……。本作の登場は、マイケルとの歴史的共演に次ぐ、2015年の大事件。まさに驚愕・衝撃・肝がつぶれる激クリアなサウンドボード・アルバム。ぜひ、あなたも驚きの体験を！
