今週は、1991年にエリック・クラプトンが達成した前人未到の「24 NIGHTS」公演から、「ブルースナイト」後半の2日間を、完全未発表マスターを含む高音質ソースからプレス6CDでリリースします！収録されているのは、2月27日の「ブルースナイト」4日目と2月28日のブルースナイト5日目です。両日においては、今回当店がイギリス在住の録音者本人から直に入手したこれまで完全未発表だったオリジナル・オーディエンス・マスターを使用しています。また、サウンドボード・ソースの方は、これまで既発盤「SLOWHAND MASTERFILE Pt.19」に2月28日の音源として収録されていたモノラルサウンドボード・ソースと同じマスターですが、今回、独自ルートにより、その上位マスターを入手、リマスター収録しています。（両日のオーディエンス・マスターとの聴き比べ検証の結果、27日の音源であることが判明しました。）中高音域に偏っていた元マスターの音質を当店のマスタリングにより低音域を強調してバランスを図ることで、どっしりと安定したサウンドにグレードアップしてのリリースです。オーディエンス・マスターの方は拡がりのあるクリアなステレオ録音のため、初登場となる28日のステージの全貌を楽しんでいただけます。ジョニー・ジョンソンのナンバー2曲だけやや音質が落ちますが、全編を通じ非常に聴きやすいサウンドです。27日については、サウンドボードとオーディエンスの２つのマスターを聴き比べていただけます。サウンドボードの方ではモノラルにつき音場の狭さは感じさせますが、楽器の一音一音のクリアさにかけてはさすがの聴きやすさを感じていただけますし、オーディエンスの方はクリアで非常に拡がりのある音像なので臨場感がたっぷりです。両日ともに元マスターにあったテープチェンジ箇所は、演奏にはかかっていなかったためまったく支障なく、極力違和感のないようスムーズな処理を施してあります。とにかくオリジナル・マスターのクオリティが高く、これだけでも「ブルースナイト」の中盤を存分に楽しんでいただけるのですが、そこにさらにサウンドボード・マスターをプラスすることで、各楽器の明瞭さと細かなプレイニュアンスを感じ取っていただけるように致しました。すべてのマスターが2時間半を越える完全収録。しかもクラプトン、ジミー・ヴォーン、アルバート・コリンズ、ロバート・クレイ、バディ・ガイのパフォーマンスは、全員がさすがのアドリブプレイの応酬なので、両日での同ナンバーの聴き比べが何よりの魅力となるでしょう。もちろんオールスターで演奏され、全員にソロが回されるアンコール・ナンバーでも全員がアドリブでプレイしています。この偶発的な濃密さは、6日間一日たりとも聴き逃せない内容です。既にリリース済みの前半日程を収めた「VOLUME 1」に続き、今回リリースの「VOLUME 2」と「VOLUME 3」は是非ともあわせて聴き通していただき、「ブルースナイト」で弾けまくったクラプトンのプレイを堪能していただければと思います。プレスCDでの限定リリースになりますので、お早めのオーダーをお待ちしております。
