1983年にSTEELERそしてALCATRAZZで鮮烈なメジャー・デビューを果たして30年。イングヴェイ・マルムスティーンは今もなおロック・ギターの最高峰に君臨し続けています。そのキャリアで特筆される作品やライヴは数多く、ファンによって愛好する時代や作品は、それぞれ異なっているでしょう。

その”絶頂時代”におけるイングヴェイ・ライヴを、同時代としては過去最上級のサウンドで真空パッケージしたのが本録音！　本作では「TRILOGY」リリース直後のアメリカツアーより、11月27日のインディアナ州メリービル公演を、テーパー提供によるオリジナル・カセット・マスターよりダイレクトに音盤化したもの。録音者はMOTLEY CRUEの「THEATRE OF ROSEMONT」やMETALLICAの「THE ECSTASY OF ARAGON」など、’80年代のアメリカで数多くの優良ライヴ音源を残した名テーパー。本作でも抜群のクリアネスと極上の臨場感、そして確かな演奏の聴き易さで、鬼気迫るイングヴェイ・ライヴの熱狂を封じ込めています（なお本ライヴはShadesレーベルの既発「INDIANA TRILOGY」と同一ライヴです。従来は”11月22日”とされていましたが、テーパーの証言と記録に基づき、本作では11月27日とクレジットしています。もちろん録音は完全別マスターです）。

ディスクを再生すると、場内から沸き立つ歓声の中、イングヴェイのギターがラウドかつウルトラクリアに飛び出します（サウンドチェックなのに鳥肌が立つような音色）！　それを裏付ける抜群の見通しとクリアネスは、さすがのオリジナル・マスター。バンド全体の楽音もダイレクト感に溢れていて、迫力満点の音像は全ての聴き手をノックアウトするはず。イングヴェイのギターはもちろん、アンダース・ヨハンソンのドラムやイェンス・ヨハンソンのキーボードなどは、オーディエンス録音でありながら、ライン音源のように間近に感じられます。
「TRILOGY」の発表直後である’86年11月初頭、イングヴェイはジェフ・スコット・ソートらを率いて２度目のジャパンツアーを果たしていました。その際の熱狂を間近で体験したマニアも多いはず。しかし本作で聴けるライヴの激しさは、来日公演を観たマニアでさえ「日本公演以上ではないのか！？」と驚くのではないでしょうか。セットおよび演奏のアウトラインは来日公演にも通じますが、バンド・アンサンブルはさらに充実しています。勢い良くスタートする「Liar」とメロディアスな「Queen In Love」、スピーディな「Fury」と、いきなり３連発する新曲はいずれも圧巻の聴き応え。ジェフはマーク・ボールズがアルバムで残した絶唱に負けず劣らずの素晴らしいパフォーマンスを披露。アンダースのドラムとウォーリー・ヴォスのベースが織り成すリズムも非常にタイトで、場内の大歓声を集めています。これらの演奏を聴くだけで、バンドがベストな状態だと理解できるでしょう。
ライヴ前半のヤマ場は「Far Beyond The Sun」でしょう！　イングヴェイのギターは全編で荒れ狂いながらも、その美しさを失わない。流麗なフレージングがサウンドボードのようなリアルさであふれ出す中盤は最高です（ウォーリー・ヴォスのベースも明瞭に浮かび上がっています）。ラストに添えられる「The Star Spangled Banner」も（当然ではありますが）アメリカのオーディエンスにアピールし、続く「Fire」へ最高のムードで流れ込みます！
前作「MARCHING OUT」からの「Soldier Without Faith」のクリアなギター・サウンドはイングヴェイ・ファン必聴のポイント。ジェフも「TRILOGY」ナンバー以上に伸びやかな歌声を聴かせます。さらに「Icarus’ Dream Suite Op.4」そして「I Am A Viking」が、ライヴ中盤のハイライトを熱く盛り上げる！　「I Am A Viking」から展開する約10分のギターソロはまさに変幻自在！
ディスク２はメンバー紹介に続いて「You Don’t Remember I’ll Never Forget」が炸裂！　同曲は発表直後でありながら、すでに代表曲・名曲の存在感で聴き手を痺れさせます！　さらに「Trilogy Suite Op5」から続く「I’ll See The Light Tonight」で、場内はこの日一番の大盛り上がり。怒涛の演奏でセット本編を終了します。
アンコールは「Blues」からの「Black Star」でムーディに始まります（本録音では既発で欠落していた「Blues」冒頭も収録）。叙情的なメロディがクリアに、ダイレクトに紡がれる「Black Star」のサウンドは、同時期でも屈指の録音テイクでしょう。そしてラストはALCATRAZZナンバーの「Too Young To Die, Too Drunk To Live」が演奏され、85分間のライヴを劇的にクロージングします！
