バンドもオーディエンスも弾ける本場アメリカの空気を日本人サウンドでパックした「MANSFIELD 2015」。サウンドボードのようにクリアなサウンドかつフル収録のプレス２CDに補足するものがあるとすれば、それはやはり映像でしょう。そこで登場するのが「2015年７月11日サン・ベルナディオ公演」を収めた客席撮影の本作です！
本作の凄みは、そのクオリティ。詳細な撮影ポジションは分かりませんが、正面よりやや右寄りアングルで、アップを多用しながらも観客の腕や頭が邪魔になることはほとんどないエディ＆アレックスのヴァン・ヘイレン兄弟を一直線に捉えながら、デイヴ・リー・ロスとの絡みもたっぷりと押さえている。
そして、画質とカメラワークこそが凄い。デジタル撮影のきめ細やかな画面で、デイヴの衣装のボタン１つひとつまでクッキリ。三脚を使っておらず、曲間では大きくブレることもありますが、なぜか曲が始まると共にビシッと安定。デイヴが軽妙にトークする場面ではデイヴを、そこにエディのチョーキングが絡もうとする寸前にエディにカメラが振られ、２人のやりとりを画面中央から外さない。見どころを熟知したカメラワークは匠の仕事で、何度もVAN HALENを観ているフリークの撮影だということがよく分かります。そして、音声も素晴らしい。さすがに本編プレス２CDの域には及びませんが、観客の熱狂をしっかりと収めながら楽音の隅々まで捉えきっており、音声だけでも充分にリリース可能なレベルです。
